I look on ebay, and KYB's only sell the front inserts but full strut/shocks for the rear. This could be a dumb question but I've never done it but does these inserts fit any strut or only certain kinds of struts can have the shock inserts removed.

some celis with sports packages have sealed struts so theres no way of getting the shock out. go to a website that sells the full housing and shock, theres a part number somewhere

The full strut assembly are for your rears. The fronts are the inserts. You would have to take your stock strut assembly and remove the insert that's in there. Hence "unscrew" it off. I was not able to just easily unscrew mine off. My inserts were sealed on, we had to use a vice to try to unscrew it. When that didn't work we took it to my friends shop and he tapped a hole at the bottom to remove the oil that may have been in the housing, heated the threads where it was sealed with a torch and was able to uncrew it.

That's just what happened with mine. You may be able to unscrew yours out and drop the inserts in.

Just make sure you order the right part numbers. You should be able to pull those off tirerack.com. That's where I purchased mine.

Hope this helps.

Here's what you'd have to do with the front strut assmebly. This is where you'd have to unscrew the shock aka the insert.

Here is one of the KYB inserts. Shown in the middle.

Here are the new KYB inserts installed back onto my stock front strut assembly.

And finally, here are the new rear KYB strut assembly for your reference.

kyb does make front struts and shock inserts...for $20 more id get the whole strut..this needs to be in the stickies because its a pain to search at times.
The part numbers for them are FR: 334378, FL: 334379.

Here's the part number link from KYB. I have the "Celica(Exc.All-Trac)(W/ Rebuildable Struts)" parts.
This link will help alot more and confirm the part numbers. They matched with the parts that I ordered from Tire Rack.

94-99 Celica KYB Part Numbers

I was under the impression that our models only had inserts for the fronts. I think everyone on this site has the fronts as inserts and rears as full assemblies. Can anyone else concur?

that use to be true that the fronts were always inserts until a member found they made sport struts like ours...so now theres full struts and shock inserts. but for $50 at the website its like buying a shock and getting the strut housing free. and looking at the kyb site...the 95-99 models and for "sealed" therefore the full strut.

monroe also makes full struts but i dont recommend them, too bumpy and painful

summitracing.com also carries the sealed kybs for 60ea...shipping is 20-25...so both sites are about 120-130 for ground

I just ordered mine from SummitRacing but like I said they do not have the full strut assembly, just the inserts.

Can I install these inserts using the stock struts. I only ordered the fronts. I already had the full rear struts. Would it be hell to remove sealed struts? What are my options?

the links i gave you are the full struts...look at the part number on the kyb website if you dont believe..
http://www.kyb.com/catalog/index.php?Actio...ID=546&x=32&y=6

the inserts are:
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.a...15&autoview=sku

if you did get the inserts, you options are simple. if you dont have the sports package your front struts wont be sealed therefore you must get non-sealed housings and put the shock inside. if yu dont have sealed then take out old shock and replace.

Lew, the part numbers you gave me are correct, but according to summit, they do not have the full strut.

By any chance would you know how to tell if I have non-sealed struts?
I haven't really looked at my struts like really good. Could you tell by the model of the car or would you really have to look?

Thanks Again!!!!!!!!!!

did you call them? i just showed you the part numbers and i gave you the links to the inserts and the full strut, am i lost or what? take out a front strut and you'll know whether its sealed or not..the nut that covers the shock is either capped over or its removable.
