I was driving to work today and I crashed my beautiful celica ST :( . I'm still working things out with the insurance company but i'm pretty sure they're going to total it. I loved my celica so much that i've decided i'll get another one, and maybe this time I can "upgrade" to the GT. I'm still not sure yet because i really enjoyed the fuel economy of the ST and i'll be using the car as my daily driver, so I want to know from you GT owners what kind of mileage are you getting under regular driving conditions? Also, do you think it's worth it to get the GT for a daily driver?

the gt is just as good as the st.

gt gets good mileage, not as good as the st tho, but when u drive a gt, you dont have to floor it to get up to speed.

daily driver = yes.

weekend car = yes.

with my gt, just highway, i get about 350 miles, approximately 32mpg.... it's pretty damn good right now! in the winter is a different story, but you don't get winter like we do, so no worries smile.gif

my gt gets like 22-ish if I do only city driving and am feeling rev-happy. and with combined city/highway driving I usually fill up (with 11 or 12 gallons) at about 325 miles, which is like 28 mpg-ish. and it's got a 15-gallon tank (or somewhere around there) so I could probably hit 425-435 before being completely empty, I just usually fill up right when the fuel light comes on.

I drive 80 miles highway daily on the PA turnpike anywhere from 80-100 MPH. And I still get 27 Mpg - consistently every tank. I did notice a nice boost in MPG after adding an intake and changing the 2" exhaust to 3" with a passthrough muffler. Although it's a lot louder than it used to be. I can't sneak into the neighborhood anymore smile.gif

Firstly, sorry to hear about your celica – but real glad you’re a-o-k!

City with A/C blowing, I usually get 21-23 mpg, and usually get 275 miles to a tank (filling once light comes on). If I were you, I’d go with a GT. It is not like it is going to be a super powerful car that will drain your gas as fast as you put it in...if you know what I’m saying. So, I’d go for the little* faster GT b/c it is more fun. And of course, a manual! biggrin.gif

My GT gets around 26-27 on mostly highway driving. Sometimes I go rev-happy though. ;]
