QUOTE(Dm_Vinny @ Aug 25, 2006 - 12:22 PM) Heh, I worked at a audio shop for 2 years in NY, whom the owner has won many pro iasca trophies and we never used the wheel well... it's a good idea... i would'nt say the "RIGHT WAY" but if it works it works. Incidentally rule of thumb, always run your power wire away from your signal... i.e; power wire ran thru driver side door sill and signal wire (rca), speaker on the passenger side... illiminates alot of noise this way. I'm not saying the traditional way is wrong at all. This is just a feature of the Celica that can be used with clean results in mind. This cannot be done on any other cars unless they share the same wire pattern. This whole process is to make the power wire disapear out of the engine bay. At the same time, avoiding drilling through the firewall and avoiding having to get a grommet (use the stock one). It's essentialy the same idea as all audio shop installs except the wire is passed through the driver side foot well instead of the firewall. I totaly agreed with you on seperating the audio signal wires from the power wire to prevent EMI (noise) generated by the alternator. I would like this debate of what is "the right way" to end. It's been all said already, repeated over and over. This is a guide on how to install a power wire in a way that gives the cleanest possible install in your 6GC, not a debate on what is the "right way" to install a power wire. My guide has been sh!t on enough as it is. ![]() This post has been edited by K-ESD: Aug 25, 2006 - 7:11 PM -------------------- ----------------------6GC's FIRST V6----------------------

THanks for the guide. Certainly helped when I ran my power.
However, instead of running it through the grommet that had the nipple, I ran it back out into the engine bay through the hole just above it and used the gromment on the firewall. I couldnt get my 0gauge cable to go through the bottom grommet as there seems to be foam etc there and made it quite difficult. Mine is a RHD Running it my way, also gives a much cleaner look on the engine bay compared to the so called traditional way as I now do not have a 0gauge cable running all the way from the battery to firewall ![]() |

I do have a 0G power going through but i had to stretch that grommet to get it to fit. I did encounter foam as you mentioned, i just stabed through it with the wire. -------------------- ----------------------6GC's FIRST V6----------------------

Convenient grommet next to battery in engine bay
http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f379/kav...wer004Small.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f379/kav...wer010Small.jpg Back into the engine bay it goes. Still need to find a rubber grommet to cover the hole or modify the original plastic one a little to accomodate both wires. http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f379/kav...wer009Small.jpg Firewall grommet. Used in previous installation. Would need to tidy it up. http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f379/kav...wer012Small.jpg This post has been edited by soven: Aug 26, 2006 - 5:49 AM |

I feel like I need to redo my own now. I already ran my wires through the fender (ghetto) but its clean cus I had the wires painted the same as my car. BUt I would like to know the easiest and cleanest way to run the battery wire without drilling and opening the fender guard. With pics please...thanks.

i dunno if this was posted, but its always better to run your RCAs/Remote wire down one side, and your power cable down the other side, or as far away as possible to prevent interference

Yes, it was posted. Last post on the first page of this thread. Read em first
![]() I did the same install as the author of this thread, but I found the place to run my wire just by exploring. Had I known those picture were there, I would have had a stereo a few weeks earlier. My install: Battery - The red wire would be straighter, but these were the wires I grabbed from my old car's install (and if you look close, I didn't have a fuse in the holder yet, nor did I have the wire connected to the fuse holder ![]() ![]() Power wire tied to the other wires ![]() Through the grommet! ![]() And yes, my power is down the driver side and my signal wires are down the passenger side. -------------------- ![]() |

Wheel well? What the hell? There is a hole on the firewall on the driver's side that you could fit a 0 gauge wire if you wanted, LOL.

Picture or it doesn't exist
![]() And that wire comes out in a great spot going through where I put it, so I can't complain. This post has been edited by Sinyk: Nov 28, 2007 - 3:56 PM -------------------- ![]() |

I completely forgot about this thread. It's over a year old. Good to see it's back.
