6 speed for the 7afe? Options

I know there was a rare 6 speed manual but I cannot remember what engine it went to. Right now I am thinking that my 5 speed is going bad because fourth keeps getting thrown out of gear when i first shift into it. I want a car to work on, but to be honest I am wondering if I can afford a second so I was going to explore whetting my whistle on this one for a bit. If my memory is correct and I could find said tranny after some searching are there any obstacles to hooking it up?

Blacktop 4age, and if you are worried about affording anything, it is not the transmission for you. I don't think any Celicas have it yet.

I'm not that worried about cost in the short term, but rather the long run. (extra monthly car payment etc). I am heading to college and have few expenses, but to have the overhead of a second car hanging over my head isn't appealing for when funds get tight is all. I guess I will go looking for the tranny code and see if there is anyway to find out how much one would set me back.

4AGE-20 Valve BlackTop 6-Speed Close Gear Ratio Transmission

The C160 is standard on all 4A-GE 20v Blacktop mounted on the AE-111 LEVIN BZ-R 2-door Coupe and AE-111 COROLLA GT 4-Door Sedan models made from 1998 to 2000.

There are two types of manual gearbox fitted to BZ-series cars.

C56 = 5-speed M/T for the LEVIN BZ-G / BZ-V models
C160 = 6-speed M/T for the Corolla GT models
C160 = 6-speed M/T w/ OEM Helical Limited Slip Differential gear box for the LEVIN BZ-R

The 6-Speed is known as a C160 with close gear ratio gearbox

Pre-facelift cars are fitted with a 5 speed box carried over from the AE101 model. A 6-Speed gearbox w/ OEM LSD was introduced in the BZ-R in 1997.4 (time of the facelift) and was produced until 2000.7.
