Hey all you experts. I have a bit of a dilemma, I installed my foglights yesterday afternoon and thought everything went well. Checked and made sure all my lights, signals, interior lights work and when I finally put everything back together bumper and all...I get into my car and my power windows were not working.

#2. Then I noticed my tach and spedometer were not working as well. Odometer was working of course, but when I took it up and town my street the needles weren't moving.

#3. Finally, my aftermarket alarm works and everthing, but my locks will not unlock when I hit the switch. They'll lock, but won't unlock. When I remove the key from the ignition they'll automatically unclock.

Can anyone help? I looked at the fuses, but I didn't notice any blown fuses.

Thanks,

-Christee-

what wires did you hook your foglights onto, and what all did you remove to wire them in?

Maybe she has the wrong bulbs and they are drawing to much current and thereby freaking the rest of the electrical out?

We ended up just using the wiring diagram from the wiring kit and followed the driections that came with it. So the lights are directly drawing current from the battery itself. I'm not using the relay or anything. We actually cut the existing prewiring for the fog harness and spliced the wires that came with the wiring kit to the fogs.

I believe that that's the problem, since I didn't use that relay and route the wiring the correct way to distribute the currents it's wigging out my system.

Does that seem right?

The bulbs that I'm using are PIAA H3 Extreme White Plus's.

hmm it could be, you should try using the relays. but you said that it was drawing power directly from the battery, but you also said you just spliced into the existing fog connections... So im kinda confused on how its hooked up.

^ en not really.

no way bulbs are drawing enough power to make the other stuff crap out, my 800 rms amp draws more power then thoes with no issue. for fogs where did you attach the switch, did you just wire it into the stock lighting system so it uses the same switch, more then likely you blew a few fuses, do your dash lights work? do the regular headlights dim when you turn on the fogs? did you wire it as a standalone system, I would recomend that rather then tapping into other parts of you car so that if you shot em by a rock smashing into it and making the wires cross or whatever, just put a switch on the dash somewhere.

The wiring directions and relays it came with are only for cars that did not have fog lights stock. But since you already have existing fog light wiring from the factory, you dont need to use any other relays. The stock fog lights are already running off relays. Everything is hooked up, all you need to do is cut the existing plug for the stock fog light harness and connect 2 wires. Foglight Positive 12v (+) should be a RED wire with a WHITE stripe. Fog light ground (-) should be a WHITE wire with a BLACK stripe.

Correct. That's how we wired them. Now to the switch, #1 connection is the black wire which we grounded it to the frame, #2 connection the positive end of the battery had an inline fuse to it also and we connected that to the switch and the 3rd connection to the switch we connected to the neg. of the battery.
I did not use the relay and distribute the current through that evenly.

I think that the way they're wired right now directly drawing power from the battery might be taking a told on the rest of my electrical. confused.gif For right now the fogs are completely disconnected.

I can't figure out where I might have shorted it and if there's a fews blown we couldn't locate it. All my fuses were in tact.

My friend is that works at toyota is going to try to help me out. He's got the actual toyota schematics so hopefully tomorrow he can look at it. So for right now, it's just sitting in my b/f's garage collecting spiders probably. kindasad.gif

I attached the switch on the console where the relay/fuse panel is located on the drivers side. So no to answer your ques. I didn't tap into the stock lighting system. That's what we tried first as shown in the "How to Install Stock Fogs" write up. But where he shows how to use "second choice option" that's where we got all confused with the way the picture showed the wiring coming out of the circuit panel where those fog relays were located. Then when he connected it through a switch it really didn't explain much in detail.
So when we tried it this way and tested to see if my fogs would turn on they didn't. So we got stumped and decided that we should have followed the directions on the wiring kit in the first place.

ughhhh this is driving me nuts! My poor car! kindasad.gif

If you just wired it up to your stock fog light wiring, you do not need another switch. There is already a switch for the fog lights located on the lever turns your headlights on (or atleast there should be if you have the stock fog light wires)

I am a little unclear on how you hooked up the switch though, becuase from your description. The switch you hooked up doesn't even connect to the fog lights. You have 1 positive connection to the battery, 1 negative connection, and a ground connection (also negative). So if thats correct, then the switch isn't going to do anything but blow the inline fuse. And if you did have to have wire a new switch into your sytem, you would wire it to ONLY to either Positive OR Negative, but not both. The stock switch is hooked up on the ground side of the FOG light circuit. You could have a few blown fuses now. Fuses that you could have blown are the 20A FOG fuse, and maybe the the 15A Headlight RH, and the 15A Headlight LH. So if the FOG fuse is blown, your sunroof (if you have one) wont work. If your headlight fuses are blown, then your headlights wont work, and your dimmer switch wont work (and if i remember correctly if your dimmer doesnt work, then your interior lights wont work)

No we didn't mess with the door panel at all. We didn't remove anything but the panels that enclosed the circuit board.

I have to double check where each of the wires that we hooked up to the switch and the battery are exactly. I don't have any access to my car right now since it's sitting at my bf's house. I'll check it again later tonight....hopefully. If not today I won't be able to check my car out until this weekend.

I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for all the input guys!! smile.gif
