tire sizes
1. 215/40-17 2. 215/45-17 3. 225/45-17 4. 235/45-17 what I want: fill tire well, stiff but not jarring ride, I plan to : get 17x7 rims, drop 1.4" and get new tires. I think I'll get a smoother ride and maybe fill the tire well a little more with tire sizes 3. and 4. but sacrafice some performance around curbs. Will 235's fit a 17x7 rim? should I stick with recommended 215/40-17 or try to get 45's for a little smoother ride? |

215 x 86 x 17"
215 x 96.75 x 17" 225 x 101.25 x 17" 235 x 105.75 x 17" there's the measurements in all mm and inches..once you get up to the 225/45-17, the sidewall is gonna start gettin really big...if you wanna smooth ride, i'd stick w/ the 215/45, because once you get past that, turning will be a problem because of the width and size of the tires. my opinion, also, find the ones you can get the best price on. -John- -------------------- |

1exquizitcelica, you are getting dubs so I'm sure you know how big our wheel wells are. a 205/40/R17 is gonna look tiny compared to them. personally I would not go any smaller than a 205/45/R17, and would probably choose a 215/45/R17 if it were my car. |

Wont it screw up your spedometer reading if you get the wrong size?

chill dub-city...it's a difference of 10mm, not very much to the human eye, but it'll give a slightly better ride, and seem to be a little bigger in the wheel well. -John- -------------------- |

that is true a little bigger in the wheel well my wife had 205/40's on her corolla which has smaller wells and it looked stupid cuz they looked hella big........i still think 205/40's would look ok
