Does anyone know how to test the speedo sensor to see if its bad, or if I have a short in my wiring. My speedo just all the sudden stopped working and I'm trying to figure out if I have a short or if my speedo sensor went bad. Also is there a fuse for the speedo sensor?

Oh yea the rest of my gauges are working fine just my speedo stopped working and I have a code 42(speedo code).

this is the cause of your problem.

Interior Modifications:
Indiglo Gauges

it will also throw a CEL light after a while telling you the speedo sensor is bad, when in fact its the gauge thats the problem. i had the same issue too frown.gif

What happened that kept your speedo from working? Are you saying the indiglo face is coming unstuck and hitting my needle holding it still? My trip counter doesn't work either will that effect that too?

the problem with mine was that the glow gauges were not glued down at the time. they seemed to work fine, but there must have been some drag on the needle that over time wore out whatever spring is in there. i took the glow gauges off and it didint help . the problem was fixed when i replaced my speedo for a new one.

Is there anyway to test it to see if that is the problem? Also did your trip counter stop working too?

there should be specs available for the sensor, its got a coil in it, so you'd want to check resistance. the coil produces alternating current i beleive, its similar to a wheel speed sensor output.

same thing happened in the 3s powered celi i bought from chanh55, the same problem happened to toyceli8(the first owner of the swap), but I know its a problem in the wiring, because when chanh did the swap, the speedo never worked after, and it worked with the 5s in there...

thats because that harness was wired up by a guy who used to do harneess work back in the day. he made a mistake on the wiring for the speedo in your harness. you need to rewired it to make your speedo work again.
