Can I scam a scammer? Options

Alright, well I like probably some of you have heard about people getting scammed thru mail, emails, or some kind of internet stuff. Like Ebay or craigslist, when some one is selling a mint condition 96 400hp Supra with 25k miles on it for $8,000. YEA RIGHT!? Then you hear the "owner" is away on business overseas? RIIIIIIGHT...

Anyway, I recently got this letter in the mail from APEX FUNDING, talking about I won some kind of lottery of $1.5 million, but Im only getting $55k, because a few other people also won. Well, they sent a check with the letter, stating the check is suppose to cover the"fees and taxes"? THe letter gave me instructions to deposit the check then send half to one lady then the other half to another lady, both in Canada. WHATEVER! To make a long story short, I looked them up, figured it was a scam to get my money.

So my question is, do you guys think I can still deposit the check and keep the money w/o sending them JACK! (The check does "APPEAR" to be real) But also w/o them trying to take the money back OUT of my account, or even worse, being able to track it and get access to my personal information?

this was just in a recent issue of People... i'd tear the check up if i were you because the artice said that sometimes when you try to cash that bad check, the bank will contact the issuer, and sometimes they can get ahold of your account information from that... I wish I had that article in front of me because it went into detail of how some people got really screwed over by that exact thing...

deposit the check, and withdrawl EVERYTHING right away, then go to another bank and open a new account, lol

I did this a while back and it worked. Take the cheque to one of these cash a cheque places, so it avoids your bank completely. I take it you have places like that in the U.S ??

Ok you will loose 5% or so of the money, but whats that if it's free anyway !? I had the same thing when i was selling a ZXR 750 for £4,000. This dude sent me 7k for the bike and the shipping and to send the diffrence back. I knew it was a scam, so i thot id chance it and try and cash the cheque. AND IT WORKED !

£7,000 richer, had a good holiday out of it too ! Give it a go, it can only get rejected...

Hahaha.... Well FIRST OF ALL, I would have to say, if you're a scammer yourself, YOU'RE IN BIG TROUBLE Buddy! Lol
2nd, yea, I got this same offer from some guy that wanted to send me $3k for a $250 car part? And yea, send him back the rest w/ his "partner" Who will pick everything up? I said, Thanks, but NO thanks.

Now, I kind of did forget about going to those check->cash places, so maybe ill try it. Yea, if gets rejected, then oh well, it wasn't meant to be. But thanks.

Alright, well what I found out from my friend (she's a personal banker), is that this scam is very popular right now. So I told her I would try the check->cash places, but that her co-worker did that, and they WILL track you down and garnesh your wages. Her co-worker is being garneshed $500 A CHECK right now to make up for it. So, its a risk. Maybe Andy B. Did do it, but they'll come get you anyway. Unless like I said b4, maybe you are one of those scammers yourself. But I don't know who you are, so ill stop pointing fingers.

I guess ill just listen to saleeka and just toss the check. I don't wanna mess up my credit.
