I have been thinking about getting a 3sgte and swapping it for my 7afe, but I just see a lot of problems down the road with actually getting the swap completed. I really want to do the swap, but I don't want to spend the money right now. Is it possible to acutally tune the 7afe and make it a decent engine? I am just thinking that I will add a bunch of things from the parts database list and see how much hp I can get without turboing the engine. I shooting for a lotus elise type vibe. I am thinking that I will see how much hp the parts add and then I will add suspension stuff so it will be more of a track car then with a st205 swap which makes it more like a drag car. So, is it worth it to add to the 7afe???

In my opinion, the only thing that's worth doing to a 7AFE IS turboing it. -Doc -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |

with the 7a, you have to fight to get 100hp to the wheels. no amount of tuning can help it, sorry man.

i beleive there could be a little room for improvement on the stock 7afe. i did a wot run in 2nd gear and my AF dropped all the way down to 10.9:1 and would have dipped lower but i let off. i think with my safc2 and some street tuning i can coax a little more power out, but nothing stunning or spectacular.
like others have said, hybrid or hybrid and turbo is the way to go. -------------------- |

if i had my 7a over again id soure a G head for it and run n2o.. but thats me, at the time i boosted my 7a i knew nothing about nothing, afraid to chage my own spark plugs... so i was afraid of doing the head work... 9 7afe's later!!, i learned a lot and just stuck the 3s in there. took about a month to do, with a month of aggressively getting parts together. and if u do go 3s dont think its only good for straight line driving either! it will stock with the proper tires for the power.
