i am planning on possibly doing the almighty 3s swap on my 5th generation celica, and i would be using a jdm 3s which is a non-egr motor, my question to you all is, how will i pass the good ol' sniffer test? without an egr valve wont the oxides of nitrogen be high? also what about the evap system... will that function properly... i live in AZ and emmissions is hard out here and i want to make sure the car will pass before i start the project, if anyshed some light on this question ione could will appreciate it.

Ask Madmods. I'm pretty sure it won't pass. He had a thread about this last year.

The motor will pass the sniffer just fine as long as you have the stock main cat in place. The evap system can be hooked up just fine also...
You're only issue will come when the smog guy looks under the hood (if they do in AZ). -Charlie -------------------- 2003 Subaru WRX Wagon
