Edit: Just using the same thread I started to avoid clutter. Scroll down for new pics...more on the way as I work on it!
So I drove the car home today...had to adjust to the new clutch and the wide expanse of legroom, lol, but it is officially in my driveway and registered to my name In other words...MINE!!! Sadly, I brought the camera out to take pictures, and it wasn't charged. I put it to charge, and when it was ready to go it started to rain. Then all my friends and family demanded to see it so I've been driving around the island all afternoon showing it off. All I've managed are a few shoddy camera phone pics: I promise there will be some beautiful hi-def pics in the next day or two there are some problems that I want to get taken care of that you can't see in these pictures...like the front bumper is a little crooked and the paint has flaked on it, and the interior needs some serious work. Mainly I need to get new seats, or at least a new driver's seat because the one that's in there is a corolla seat forced into the rails, and so it doesn't pull up high enough for me to reach the pedals comfortably. Anyone know where I can get a good Celica seat online? It's hard to find stuff here... ...I aleady have an amp and two 12-inch speakers to put in, and it came with a 6-CD changer, though I'm debating to keep or sell that....I'll see. Gotta fix the fritsy alarm before I do anything... more to come... This post has been edited by mzztoyota: Jun 25, 2007 - 2:55 PM -------------------- "I bet you drive a standard." Sweet car man! When you get the seats, see if you can find the leather ones. The black leather seats plus the red looks awesome. The other option is to get some totally beat up ones for cheap, then reupholster them in black leather. Reupholstering is often cheaper than new seats.
it looks awesome, congrats! btw- how big is the island you live on? Did you get the car on it, or did you buy it somewhere else, and have it shipped? -------------------- psalm 69 |

The passenger seat is leather, but torn...so maybe that'll get re-upholstered, and if I can find a leather driver seat, then awesome... I actually have the "former" leather driver seat, but it's left hinge is pretty messed up...my boyfriend says it's probably not going to be easily fixed, but then he's no pro...I'll take a pic and ask you guys... The island is 14 by 3 miles, near Puerto Rico. I am the third owner of the car and I bought it from a guy who lives here and who has been driving it for 6 years. BTW...I did forget to thank everybody who commented and made suggestions in the "Some Quick Help" thread that I put up when I was thinking of buying the car. Without your help, the buy may never have gone so smoothly and I may not have been as confident as I was when I wrote that 4500-dollar check (biggest check I ever wrote...) Thank you all very much. p.s....been driving on winding and wet roads all night long...I love how this car handles!!! -------------------- "I bet you drive a standard." Well, guys, I woke up EXTRA early just to take some pics before I took the car to work today ....so feel special, cus I took them for you! (okay, really for me, too...but shhhhhhh)
I had to put some pillows against the back of the driver's seat so that I could reach the pedals comfortably enough I so desperately need a new driver's seat! So I'm at work now and since these cheap owners have DIAL-UP photobucket is taking its dear sweet time uploading my pics....but don't worry, a few have gone through, so here they are: The front bumper is a little skewed because of an accident the first owner was in, so this needs to get fixed (the paint job could use a little touching up as well): Driving to work today was so exhilerating...the winding roads are a snap and when I hit a straightaway the smooth ride just gives me tingly feelings inside Thanks again guys for your input in helping me decide whether to buy it... more pics uploading now! -------------------- "I bet you drive a standard." Congratulations! I would agree with the previous post by ScoobyDooCruiser, reupholstering may be the cost effective choice if you locate a used driver’s with structural integrity.

Awesome news! Apparently my BF is just as turned on by the car as I am, cuz yesterday he asked me to "take him limin' " in the new car (I guess limin' here would be the equivalent of "cruising" in the states...) and he told me to take this road I didn't know to well and we ended up at this upholstery shop! Apparently he knows the guy well so he's gonna hook my "nice car" up by reupholstering my seats and console cover thingy...we already dropped that off and I get to pick it up today...the seats we're going to wait for so I can find another dirver seat to work with. I'm so excited! Black leather...here I come!

So...I dissappeared for quite some time here due to school, work, and other things. I made a few changes and fixed a few things on the Celi since then, and figured I'd post to keep track of my progress.
I got the chassis pulled (effin $400!!!) so that the front bumper is more aligned (though I still need to buy a new one since the old one split). I also got some clear turn signals and side markers off of Ebay, convinced my bro to let me buy his driver's seat off of him which will get reupholstered in leather, bought some new Motegi FF7 16" rims because the Momo's were so old and corroded they were letting air out of the tires, and have rewritten my list of things to do to the car, lol. I need to rebuild the alternator, it's gonna go any day now. I need that new bumper, I want to red out the tails or get JDM's (still can't decide which will look better), and I want to repaint...or get some black vinyl patterns to work the black rims (or repaint and paint a black design on! XD). The interior still desperately needs work; I still need a new steering wheel (I'm totally turned on by the 3-spoke one I've seen around...). Anyways, enough jibber-jabber and here's some pics! Before the Motegi's got put on... Oh the darkness... -------------------- "I bet you drive a standard." "You could make some money off that bet." :D |
