A while ago I posted some pics of my door panel build up, and it sounded OK. But last
week my friend who owns a camry made kick panels for his car. And I was really pissed when I found out that his (well actually my Alpine Type-S speakers that I let him borrow) sound way better then my $500 MbQuart Premiums . So for the last 4 days I was making kick panels. Yesterday I finished the driver side and it sounds just amazing! Today I am gonna finish up the passager and maybe have enought time to carpet the damn things. PS: Some people this that its easy and cheap to build kick panels, well they are wrong, it took me about 50 hours and I am still not done. And I already spent $100 on the fiberglass, resin and gloves alone. But hey, it sounds way better then it did before ... -------------------- <<AKA THA RUSSIAN>>

Kudos for all the hard work and ingenuity!
I would never do that because they stick out too far and would get kicked around and dirtied. I don't think our cars have enough space down there for a custom kick panel but hey, if you're happy with the results and can live with it, then great! |

Well, I am 100% done with the Kick panels and its not as bad as I though to drive with them things. There is enought room for legs. And OMG the sound is just amazing. The mids were too much so I had to tune them down with PEQ. Today I brought my car to local CarAudio shop and the owner (who compeates in SQ and won a couple of 2nd places in IASCA world championsihps) tuneds my car. And it just sounds amazing now .

Thanks!!!
I'll see how these things will do at NY SQ/SPL championship on sunday! The dude who tuned it told me that I have a good chance because i am going to be in novice class (because its my first year compeating). He said that there prolly wont be any one with kick's in my class exept me which makes me stand out because of way better mids and sound stage/hight. Soon I am planning on getting me Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.2 retail at about $500. Two of my friends just got those and these sound processors are just amazing. Them things have 260band EQ, crazy time alighment and x-overs that can be set at any FQ possibe . Plus it will move all the mids to the front stage and use the sub only for sub frequencys. Cant wait until I get my hands on one of them. I'll post some pics of the show and tell how I did next week . PS: Kick's are not as bad as people think, sure there wont be as much room for legs but since I never use the foot rest it didn't do any bad to me. But kick's are only for Auto cars . If any one has questions on how to build a kick or about different designs please PM me and I'll gladly reply. Lil Note: If u are planing on building kicks or already have them, make a port kind of hole in it and it will sound way better. For some reason a lot of people make their kick's sealed. Mid-range speakers need to be vented, just thing of what they were designed for. A big ass door with a lot of air and holes in it. -------------------- <<AKA THA RUSSIAN>>

its been awhile since ive been on and its nice to see some work like this, they are kinda big but if you like the sound of them then its worth it. I have had my kicks in for 2 years now and i love them. they arent that big and i run the tweet in the kick for better imaging. ill try to get some pics of mine up so we can compare. again nice work.

Thanks
I got 1st place in SQ at SlapShow last sunday I got 187points, the 2nd place car had 160points. So I pretty much murdered him . Hehe, the judge loved my car. He said that I have amazing mids, mid-bass and bass. Really wide stage (haha I love celica's for that) and the L/R/Center images are dead on point (pretty good, cuz I dont have any special timealighment done to it) Just stock timealighment that came with the deck . Judge told me that my car is perfect and that there are a couple of things I should do. 1) Finish the tweeter mount 2) Create better support for kick's 3) Extend Power wire in the engine bay 4) And do some more tuning to make it sound better, but that cant be made with my 7band Parametric, so I need to start saving up and get Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.2 and tune that . PS: I am planing on redoing the whole trunk, just to make it look a lil bit nicer and hide all the wires. Well I guess by next summer I'll be compeating in IASCA and prolly be in some magazine -------------------- <<AKA THA RUSSIAN>>

eh? Wheres that space come from on the dirvers side? My accelerator is almost tight up against the OE kick panel so there is no way you could do a big thing like that in a right hand drive. Guess its different in LHD though.
