I don't know what it is... I installed a boost controller and turned it down to 5psi and it still cuts out.. only under wide open throttle. If I keep the pedal pressed at 50% it builds boost and accelerates quickly... But any more than that and it sputters and cuts out. Any idea guys?

Sounds like a fuel issue. Do you have a wideband hooked up? Any aftermarket engine management?

Just a afr, boost gauge and a Turbo timer. And a walboro 255 for the fuel. Think a fmu would help?

Don't know because we don't know what the problem is. I don't know how the stock 5S ECU likes forced induction. Stock 5S injectors are only 215CC I think. You could be maxing them out. Could be maxing out the fuel pump if that hasn't been upgraded. 5psi isn't much, but that might be too much for the stock system to handle. Manny (presure2) would be the guy to ask about that.

A narrowband gauge is just a light show. Get a wideband so you can actually know what is going on... and perhaps a simple piggyback computer like the SAFC.

Vafc is for vtec, so no that probably wouldn't work.

I am aware of that. Just saying it is similar to the SAFCand I know how to tune those. But could you list a few piggy backs that would work because I really don't feel like spending 850 on ems

VAFC works by MAP,

SAFC works by either.

Celica works by MAP, so either one can be used. VAFC just has an extra output that can be used for something else on our cars (like a nitrous solenoid)

Please tell me you're not still on stock injectors....

I'm not sure. I bought the car with everything on it the way it is. All I did was give it a tune up and clear yue fuel out of it reason being it was flooded when I bought it.

oh man, you really need to get rid of that lame AF gauge and get a real wideband O2 sensor like the AEM UEGO. you are cutting out because its probably lean and you are killing your engine. im trying not to rip on you too much but it sounds like you bought a boosted car and dont know anything about it. everything changes when you boost an NA car.

what color are your injectors? can you post a pic of them?

sounds like your injectors are either maxing out, not working properly, etc...

really need to check what injectors you have to see if something can be ruled out

i got a 5s turbo also, im using a safc2, 460 injectors, walbro 255, and a wideband o2.

quick question, do you know if your map sensor is a 2 bar map? cause if its the stock sensor i hear they fall on their face around 5psi.... another thing you might wanna look into is checking the spark plug gap i read that is must be 0.30" cause you might get detonation around 5psi or so.....

also, i had a similar issue with my car when i was tuning i would be building boost like 2 or 3 psi and then the car would stutter a bit, i noticed that my afr around the stuttering was really lean. and no matter how much fuel i added around that rpm it would stay lean, but at WOT i was having no issues only at part throttle. i got around that issue by disconnecting my primary o2 sensor.......my afr are a little better now.

but definitely get your self a wideband, and check your injectors......
