Has anyone put a Superstrut suspension on their 6th gen yet? I'm going for it and the only thing I can think of that will be a problem is the drive axels and the tie rods on the steering rack... which is why i bought that steering rack from you manny..... so I could dissasmble the steering rack and reassmble it with the funny tie rods.

i don't see why you would want to do this...the superstrut setup isn't really better then a mcpherson setup...it has joints in it that the mcpherson doesn't..thus more parts that wear out...
doggy(romas) even swapped the Susperstrut out of the SS3 celica and installed Mcphersons because of the increased reliability and less hassle...but more to ya for trying something new |

Handling should be a bit better with the SS but looking at the costs of keeping every in good working order would let you think it over again.
@qatar11: It says you have a GT4 already. So why searching for SS parts? The only REAL advantage it may have is that installation of ST205 brakes will be a lot easier. I have make it work on the non SS parts and thats needs some major customizing. -------------------- JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!

I really want the SS suspension for the brakes and the beefer hubs... plus I think it would be neat to try... call me masochistic -------------------- -Mike

Glad to see you are stepping out of the box and doing something nobody else has. SS is a great suspension in the handling department but like everyone else is saying, it does not seem to be the best for reliability.

if brakes was the reason to increase size to a GT4 you should just look into the AEM big brake kit for the GT 7th gen 00-02 those "shoul" fit directly and much less headache and hassle then a supsension swap

I did the ss swap from my ST202 to my AT200
I've bought a complete (accidental) car in germany 2 do the 3sge swap, and also did the superstrut suspension! And No, i will never do it again, not because its difficult 2 do, but the ss is expensive if you have 2 replace something!!! And if you want 2 replace some parts with tein or trd elements, its still getting more expensive. Now im planning 2 put some koni's in there and place some ground control coilovers on it, and even that needs lots of customizing... This post has been edited by celi94: Jul 12, 2006 - 10:35 AM |

No point in making life hard just for some pretty brakes. If you want them that bad... go to a fab shop and have them measure and build some bracket extensions... not too hard nor too expensive.
BTW... I think just about all of Europe is standard LHD... with exception to the UK... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

Ya... Pretty brakes... which also happen to be 4 Pot, Aliminum Bodied, with 13" rotors... There is nothing easier (IMHO) than using the front cradle of a GT4... I was simply looking for someone else who has done it... my mind was made up on it to use them unless there was some ungodly fitmint issues - hence the post

It's as easy as building a bracket to extend the knuckle outward to the calper can bolt on to the spindle and clear the rotor. This sort of stuff has been done time and time again on different cars. I even drew you a little diagram on how easy it is... BTW... the GT4 brakes are nearly identical to 4x4 truck brakes...
