Ok, no problem!

Even if i personally prefer a REAL celica ( 6gc ) 80 cars meeting, instead of a 200 cars meeting with also the NEW PASEO...

sorry if i consider the t23 as a Paseo evolution, and not a real celica... :-D

Could i democratically open a poll on that?

The most powerful T23 has 50hp less than the most powerful T20,

for the dimensions, the T23 is smaller than the T20...

T20 was up to 2200 cc. when the T23 is only 1800cc....

So, sorry if I don't see it as a T20 evolution... rather than a PASEO evolution !!!

tongue.gif

And moreover, aesthetically, Paseo and T23 are VERY similar !!!

Seriously...
I don't hate Paseo t23 drivers,
but why we have to take to this meeting people that we don't know?
I mean...the idea of this meeting came out here... in this forum, the 6 gen celica forum... between us.
And i think it should be a meeting made to see us, people that is here, writing posts, reading each other posts, by many years,
and at last, at the meeting, will have the possibility to meet each other.
That's why, imho, it has to be a 6gc meeting.

celica club cyprus (at least some of us) travelling to europe.
this is about for next summer just writting this about what other european celica owners think.
can a pan-european meeting be possible?
i was thinking about rome but nothing is for sure now
what u guys think?

celica club cyprus has members with 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th gen. all celicas. i already asked for help from members with 7th gen to get price quotation...

and for sure the

My fault,
I thought you were talking about your T20 cyprus club.

When I talk about my celica club, I'm referring to my CelicaT20 Italia club, not at the Celica Team Italia ( all generations ).

Also this is the 6gc club and forum... not an All Celica club.

That's why I was thinking you were talking about T20s.

I'd prefer ten times an 80 T20 car meeting than a 200 Celicas meeting....
by the way, REALLY, no problem for me, even if there will be 4th or 5th gen Celicas, or Paseos:

let see how the poll goes.

I strongly disagree ! When I talked about 80 cars, I meant that I think that we will be able to have 80 T20 cars at the meeting... not me, you and 5 more...

20 italian t20, other 10 from Switzerland, 10 from Germany, 5 from Cyprus ?, 5 from Uk... 2/3 T20 from Spain, France, Austria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, and many other from other countries...

Even in this case it will not be a family holidays !

BTW, as I told, no problem for me in ANY case !

Bye.

Idunno...the idea about a 6gc meeting is OK by me, but I also like the 4th and 5th generation of my favourite car in the world...not to mention some older and more rare models...

My motto for this would be; the more, the merrier, so I would allow every type, model, and year of Celica to be allowed to participate in our meeting!
After all, we´re all Celica-enthusiasts, aren´t we?!;)

In Italy we say that "it's better few people, but good people".

Believe me... It'll be more funny for every participants if we will be 80/100 cars...
transfers will be faster, we will see more things, we will drive more beautiful roads, we will sleep and eat in the same hotel and restaurants...

But with the Paseans we are going to have more than 150 cars... and the meeting won't be so funny.

First of all the 7th Gen Celica is a Celica ! No matter what you think so stop offending people who love their 7G Celica with your "Paseo Theory". Celica owners from all over the world and from all generations are watching this thread. So stop being offending while we are talking about a Pan European Meeting. That does not look very professional!

Recycle said that it is a celica meeting of all generations. So lets get on with that and then please stop this damn poll.

Joerg

hmmm... let's post some my notes about "6GC meet or celica meet" question... (just IMHO like usual biggrin.gif)
  • I don't like 7gen celica drivers-owners much (more if it's just driver-not-owner). All I have ever met were... *not friendly... just because their car is 2-3x expensive than mine and their budget is double or triple.
  • I'm bit scare of 4gen and 5gen owners because they are more frivolous crazy fellows than me biggrin.gif (of course because their cars costs half or quater than my wink.gif)
  • I have huge respect of 1gen, 2gen and 3gen celica owners. They are connoisseurs for me...
  • I'm friendly (as most as possible) to 6gen owners-drivers I see and even don't know anything about them...
  • Only people I know and only people I have something to say are few local (6GC.NET) members
  • I have already announced to all CZ Toyota Club members it's "celica meet"...
  • I respect recycle's opinion a lot (because he "act" not "talk" like me few months ago here)
  • I don't want ride from CZ to Parma alone smile.gif
so my result: if it's not strict 6GC.NET meet (and it's not) my vote is "celica meet" for sure.

* edited because of respect (and leave out personal emotions and experience)...

Thank you malpaso,

I respect very much your opinion.

BTW I have to return back on " Paseo " because " someone ", as usual.... didn't understand what I meant....
probably because he's too young, and so can't know what CELICAS were years ago.

First of all I have to say I don't see ANY offence, ANY, in saying that a T23 is more a Paseo evolution than a Celica:
T23 are good cars... beatiful cars for some, bad cars for other.... even if Toyota called them Celica or Paseo.
So your post is really a nonsense and unuseful.

Second, who REALLY knows the Celica history MUST admit that the T23 is not A Celica, and this is a fact.
And I explain why:

- Celica was a LUXURY coupe', ALWAYS:
I bought my 1992 ST185 RC for 32000 euros ( and that was 15 years ago );
I bought my 1995 ST205 for 40000 euros ( and that was 11 years ago ).
40000 euros of 11 years ago are around 60000 actual euros.
This is what a Celica was... a luxury coupe', VERY expensive and techie for the standard of those years, for 25 to 45 year's old man that wanted an EXOTIC car with high performance engines.

The T23 is definitely NOT a luxury or expensive coupe' ( sorry, hatchback in USA ! ), but an entry-level 25000 euros coupe, and its target is younger people 18/30 years old, like the Paseo.

- Toyota always had rally races in its mind when projecting T16 - T18 - t20, and I mean particular engine/suspension/chassis solutions, over-measured for a simple street use, but good for future rally use.

T23 has not rally races in its DNA.

- AND: T18 is clearly an evolution of the T16, it's evident to anyone.... more power, better chassis, better suspension and better brakes.

T20 is clearly an evolution of the T18, it's evident to anyone.... more power, better chassis, better suspension and better brakes.

And the T23 ? Can we say that T23 is AN EVOLUTION OF THE T20 ????????????????????????????????

Are we joking or what ?

T23 is a completely different car from the T20, and as many people said, the name "CELICA" was used on the T23 only for COMMERCIAL REASONS.

That's why the T23 is more a Paseo evolution, than a T20 evolution.

Like it or not, and without OFFENDING anyone.

2nd gen celica rwd
3rd gen celica rwd

4th gen celica fwd
5th gen celica fwd
6th gen celica fwd

i read somewhere that the female market in usa said tha a rwd drive car is hostile and dangerous to be driven on wet/ slippery road. i bet someone can find this with a search. u said that 4th, 5th and 6th gen celicas are real celicas but they are all different from first celicas. i believe evolution sometimes is gentle sometimes is rough. but is still evolution even if u, me or anyone else likes it

I think we are going away from what this topic is for.

I think the concensus is that all celicas are invited and that we are having a large meeting in italy. If the country organisers decide themselves that they only want to invite a specific gen then fine, but I think its down to each organiser to decide whom they want to invite from their country?

I personally don't 'know' anyone on this site (even the UK people) so can't we just all try to get on? If we all have cars that we are personally proud of then I don't see why there should be any reason to have a go at someone. Fair enough if someone has a car thats a pile of crap and not looked after then fine don't ask them to come, but most of us if not all are proud of our cars and look after them like we would our children.

anyway, back to the topic......

Agree... this is not "against 7gen celica" topic. Post opinion about "be just 6gen meet or not to be" is one thing but this is different story. More than that, this is the best way lock this topic (did you see "meet poll topic" ???)

I'm seriuosly thinknig of tagging on to this proposed meet - its a great idea.

BTW - I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees the Gen7 Celica as really being a Gen3 Paseo - no-one else in the UK sees it that way. biggrin.gif

Speaking of the 7th gen like a Paseo was ironically for me, even if I explained why, not only IMHO, but with facts, the last real is our beautiful 6th gen.

Back on topic,

I wrote many reasons why this, IMHO, will have to be a 6th gen meeting:

1. THIS is a 6gen forum, with 6 gen people that write/read posts, and had the idea of a european meeting to meet each other

2. There is ALREADY an european ALL gen Celicas meeting every year:

this year is the next 03 September in Nederland, www.tccn.nl

When there was not an European only 6th gen Celicas Meeting, never and nowhere.

3. IMHO it will be more funny to meet 6gc forum people

4. A fact, and not imho, is that it would be more funny for the participants, and easy, a less car only 6gen meeting.
I already know how it is difficult to take 30 cars around in the roads to reach places, and restaurants.
Move 60/80 cars will be VERY HARD.
Move 150 cars will be impossible.

5. Also, you can even hardly find the same hotels and restaurants for 100 people...
But will be impossible to make 200 people to eat in the same restaurant.

This said... do what you wanna do, no problems for me.

Only give me an idea of many people, as soon as you can.

Italy: 20 cars-25 members
CZ: 1-5 cars; 2-9 people (1 for sure, 4 just told if bla, bla, bla I'll come...)
UK: 5?
France: 5?
Germany: 10?
Croatia:1-2 cars, 3-6 people (unconfirmed...have to catch them all)
Spain: 2?
Swiss: 10?
Austria: 2?
Poland: 2?
Hungary:
Russia:
Finland:
Cyprus: 20?
Greece:
Lithuania: 1-2 cars, 2-4 people FOR sure
