OK guys, maybe its a noob question but i prefer asking you than going on without any knowledge of it and doing a ****ty job. My 6gc's got rust on one and only place : fuel door. Its a bad spot of rust that is going trought the fuel door so ive bought another one. I just need the know all the stuff i need to do a nice paintjob and the steps to do it. The new fuel door is yellow, do i need to sand it before or just begin with a primer etc...

you should definitely sand it! anywhere you want paint to stick, you need to sand lightly. you don't need to take the paint off, just use 1500 grit followed by 2000 grit to make a really smooth, hazy surface. then prime, sand lightly again to smooth out any imperfections, and color coat.

if you really want to do it right, you would need a primer, a stabilizer, a base coat, a hardener, and a clear. Im not saying apply in that order by any means (in fact the stabilizer and harders get mixed into before you spray) but im saying that thats what you will need. Is there anything else that you need painted right now cause you not going to be able to buy that small amount of paint at one time. You going to have alot left over.

for your specific car, open the door. Look on the inside of the door jam. There is a white sticker on the inside of the door, dont get it confused with the white sticker on the frame. Now on that sticker is going to be a 3 letter combination. Thats your paint code. Match it with one of the codes on that link.

if its just the fuel door thats rusted, you can buy a brand new door from toyota for like 40$.

I wouldn't think so; you'd have to ask your dealer. However, a body shop would likely paint it for you, but they would probably want at least 50.
