hi there folks i'm from cape town south africa south africa and im biulding a 7afe block with 20valve cylinder head with a turbo. i got a couple of problems and hope someone can help me.
i cant find a cambelt that fits properly and do i need to modify the head gasket(i'm using a 20v one) I WOULD LIKE all the help i can get. i'm getting fed up with golf's giving me a hiding

you need a porsche crank sprocket i think, check the 7age thread here, it has a link to a page that goes through a 7age build.

need the crank timing gear off of a 4AG and timing belt from a porsche SUPPOSEDLY 944/924 (mixed reports)... but this was ONLY for the 16V head. The 20V timing belt is, if I remember correctly, longer than the 16V... so you're pretty much on your own in that respect. This hybrid has been built before... so try asking around on the more 4AG specialized sites, perhaps club4ag or something and hopefully someone can help you out.

my motor is complete, i ceramic coted the 7afe pistons and am using a renault espase timing belt, the tensioner had to be made bigger. i'm gonna run the 20v throttle bodies and add a garret gt 17 turbo. only have 1 problem my altenator. will hopefully install the engine over the week end smile.gif
