I belive every car must have VIN... VIN should looks like this:

IPB Image

IPB Image

or link http://www.toyotacelicaonline.com/VIN.htm

so... because Celica is Japan car, VIN should start with letter "J"... and because it's Toyota, second one should be "T"...

now... what I'm looking for is SS-III VIN (for Toyota dealer and order some parts) and it looks like it's not possible find that VIN on SS-III Celica...

there is frame code:
E-ST202-BLMZF (manual tranny)
E-ST202-BLPZF (automatic tranny)

there is some other identification code like:
ST202-1234567

IPB Image

...but where shoud be that damned VIN? Any ideas, pictures, etc?

p.s.: ...or is possible that Japan imported cars just don't have common VIN?

look in your windshield from the outside...the bottom driver side of the windshield should have your VIN # placed inthe dash (only visable from outside the car)

VIN - are used on most US cars, in Europe, if you want to order some parts and etc - all you need is Chasis number, cuz there are no other identification numbers on SSIII. Even Chasis number on SSIII is different then EURO or US celicas. On my SSIII chasis number starts without any letters in front:

Like this:
ST202-1234567

And Daniel - only US cars have VIN in the Dash.

Finaly some new info... It's about 95% sure, Japan cars has NO 17character VIN like European and US models. There is just "frame number", so no one here searching for JDM VIN will not succeed...

here are some frame numbers of JDM celicas (taken from one Japan web)

5th gen.
GTfour, 1991, MT: ST185-0014348

6th gen.
GT, 1993 (!), MT: ST202-0021220
GT, 1994, AT: ST202-0043752
SS-I, 1995, MT: ST202-0090824
SS-I, 1996, AT: ST202-0107907
SS-III, 1997, AT: ST202-0115967 (eddition without beams engine, no splitters, projectors, etc.)
SS-III, 1998, AT: ST202-0130523 (beams edition, TOM'S (Magic) front lip)

7th gen
SS-I, 2001, AT: ZZT230-0123220
SS-II, 2000, MT: ZZT231-0017375

I have also some other SS-III frame numbers from 6gc.net members, but without permission I'll not post it... wink.gif

However, my local dealer can't order any part via those numbers... kindasad.gif (maybe US members will be more successful), so part numbers are still needed for me... frown.gif
