I have a set of blemished inserts for the GT/ST available for $35. These have air bubble holes in a couple of the pieces but will function just the same.
EDIT: They are SOLD! This post has been edited by kirkosaurus: Jun 28, 2011 - 4:01 PM -------------------- |

*UPDATE*
I installed my inserts last week when i finished up replacing my clutch They car does shake a good bit at idle, AKA my steering wheel shakes and you hear lose items. But honestly once you start driving it completely stops and you feel a lot more connected to the motor directly. I also did a 7th gen short shifter at the same time and replacing the rubber bushings with the metal ones also helped to make the car feel much more solid and connected to the motor. Highly recommend these, even after just a week I've noticed the shaking has gone down some at idle from the mounts settling a little. **EDIT* p.s. 7th gen short shifter off eBay you can get easy for under $20 shipped. Got mine for $12 shipped. About 1-2 hour install, depending how well you know your car. This post has been edited by Rymaster: Jul 8, 2011 - 3:09 AM |

Not really a complaint, just an observation, but I ordered a set from him for $50 shipped and they have some air bubbles in them. Just thought it was interesting as the set with air bubbles went for 35$ before.

You can put those blemished mounts on a electric motor, or anything that'll spin it fast. Put some MEK on a rag, to soften it. Then you can just wipe out the air pockets, with the rag. Used to do that to smooth out air chucks for giant textile spindles.
That is if they are just surface air pockets that didn't get out before the mix set, while in the vacumn chamber. That is if thats how he makes them =P Doubtful they'll have an effect on performance by any means, just looks like the thane wasn't prettied up. Is that word? Thinking about picking these up. Has anyone ever experienced any damage to the car by using these kinda inserts? I worry a bit too much about things lol.

There was a pic before, the air bubbles ones had about 50 bubbles like that on them. Yes but ive talked to others that have bought these mounts and say they have 0 bubbles. I just thought people should be aware that the quality of the mounts.(not that they are built crappily by any means) |

You should fix your motor mounts while you're at it. No sense to go back in and have to fix them once these give from the mounts already being bad

I've had my front insert in a little over a month. Apart from the vibrations, I haven't noticed any strange noise.

Hey,
Installed mine today, I love the feel! As many others did I struggled with the rear mount for hours but then found a pretty simple way to get it in. If your lying under the car with your feet sticking out the front looking up at the mount, in order to get it out originally it needs to shift right a little then twist towards your face and it pops right out. The problem is once the inserts are on there is no more movement space! My solution was to put the left insert in first(the one with the fat base) which still allows room to shift it right and slide in to place. So now the mount will be in and ready to bolt up except its missing the right side insert. Now jack your engine up and down till you hit the right position with enough space to wedge that other sucker in and problemo solved! Even if its not 100% properly seated if you can still manage to bolt it all in and get it tight enough to drive it will settle itself into the correct position fairly quickly! Hope if other people try this its as simple as it was for me. |

Just read through this entire thread, and have a question similar to whats been asked, but just want to clarify.
My car shifts slightly rough, usually from first to second, sometimes second to third, making to whole car rock/jerk front to back, alsmot as if i don't know how to drive standard (thats not the issue though, i have for 7 years now). Would this be something cause by motor mounts? (I haven't taken a look at the condition of them yet) And if so, would these inserts fix this issue? If my mounts are in decent shape ex. not cracked and ripped apart, could I simply through these inserts in? or should I just go straight for new mounts. I ask this as these are much cheaper than new front and rear mounts, and I'd like to avoid doing the job twice after reading about everyones struggle with the rear mount.
