Well, I've checked out 6gc.net for about a year and a half or so, and just recently got around to making a forum account. Recently I've had an odd problem that hopefully someone recognizes.

Lately I've had to keep putting oil in my 94' ST, about a 3/4 of a quart to a full quart about every 2 weeks. However, there are no spots in the driveway, nor am I blowing smoke at high RPMs (or low RPMS for that matter). So that pretty much rules out a piston problem (i think). Just curious if anyone has encountered this problem before? Oh, and my manual ST has ~102k on the odo, w/ standard 10W-30 oil. It's been ~3k miles since my last change, but I would like to find out what the problem is before I waste money on an oil change only to have my mechanic drain the oil to replace something anyway kindasad.gif . Thanks in advance!

Check your coolant if it's milky white or something. Oil might be mixing into your coolant. Other than that, You should open your hood, and look for any oil leaks around the valve cover or so. And if you have the plastic underlyings or shields under your car, you might want to check the inside of those to see if oil is leaking.

I have a 94 st with 153k.. I know im burning oil. I go through maybe a quart every 3k. 7afe's have a problem with the valve seals, you are basicly burning oil. It kicks on start up after sitting and yes when you hit the gas in higher rpm's.

Now you seem to be burning quit a bit, but how much do you drive? I decided not to replace the seals cause it would cost nearly $800 and $3 every 2 months sounded much better. You might want to look into replacing them if you want to keep the car.
