for the first time today i have wanted to sell my car not to get out of debt, but just to not have to deal with it anymore.. thats when you know its bad.
i think my exhaust manifold is leaking when i rev in nuetral it makes a tapping noise from the heatshield/turbo area. also i have sort of a bouncy idle, i tried to bleed the coolant system and saw no bubbles for 10 min. if i rev up the car to like 5k in nuetral and come back down the bouncing idle gets INSANE like 200 rpms to 800 rpms and eventually stalls, but if i turn the car off /back on it idles fine.. even when the idle isnt bouncing its at like 600 rpms and im pulling low vac again, i fix the problems.. then they come back.. this is getting ridiculous. also the motor shakes at idle, which annoys me too. these problems wouldnt be so bad if i hadnt fixed them countless times already, they go away, they come back, they go away, they come back. oh yeah, i have to replace my high pressure oil line too. and i think my clutch pedal is out of adjustment cause evne all the way to the floor if i put it in first and rev it it slowly creeps forward.. it wouldnt be so bad if i had a nice shell to work with but even outside of the engine bay the entire car is just crap. i love my car but i really dont know what to do, im in so much credit card debt now that its almost fixed and it just doesnt seem worth it to keep pouring money into it, i got caught with my pants down and got ripped off on my shell and my motor and im running out of patience to try and get this car working. kind of a help post, kind of a rant.. meh.. i dont know what to do. |

Don't give up on it man, you'll never let yourself forget about it if you do give in and sell. You've got a lot of time, money, and effort invested into the car and it may be giving you trouble, and may seem easier just to take your losses, but it's pointless to throw all that you've put into it away.

I just see these project cars come and go fairly often and I was wondering how much you would want for it.
I'm sad to see that this is getting to the point that you're so frustrated that you just want to be rid of the car. I've seen quite a few people in that spot and my words to anyone in that situation is, "You're ALMOST there, don't give up now!" You know you can hit me up by email anytime with questions and I'll help you out. -Doc This post has been edited by Dr_Tweak: Jul 28, 2006 - 10:54 AM -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |

well do you have any ideas for the things i posted about? anybody.. let me know..
i bought the stock mr2 intake, i think im gonna take it off cause it doesnt fit well, but i have an idea for a new one.. well see though. i also think my blow off valve is causing the bouncy idle issues because if i take the vacuum line off of it it starts revving up and dropping, then i put my thumb over it and it stops, i think when i rev up, it blows off , and its not closing fast enough so the ecu thinks its a vacuum leak. edit: also lagos is going to murder mebut i adjusted the idle via the screw on the throttle body , raised it up to 800 rpms and the idle is a lot smoother, the engine doesnt shake as much anymore, but there are still some hiccup periods which kind of bother me. all these problems and i took it out for a drive and it still put a smile on my face.. it just reminds meof my sho, its just a fast turd ![]() This post has been edited by brianforster: Jul 27, 2006 - 6:39 PM |

You sound like me, except I didn't get caught with my pants down.
Drive that sucker untill it dies on you on the road, and then ditch it or tow it home. Then at least you can say it died on you. |

I can assure you that most swappers felt that way before. I did and all I can tell you is that I am truly enjoying my car Brian. Getting the bugs out is so frustrating but its really worth it in the end. Hang in there Brian! -------------------- QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this. |

ever car has some type of post swap bugs to work out. regardless of who did the swap.
it can also lead to a lot of stress. but sometimes you just have to step back, take a deep breath and keep on doing what you were doing. keep your chin up bro. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
