I was jus wondering, is there a way to just pay a performance shop like 4-6 grand and have them do all the work like getting the clip, installing the engine, and putting everything together. And I would make a monthly payment to them, like a financing plan for the 4-6gs for the swap.

I doubt ANY shop would do a payment method. So i think your best bet here would be to save up about 6g's and try it then. If not then you can do it yourself.. |

yea that's what i was thinking as well. As far as doing it myself. I am not mechanically inclined, I know that you would need to know the basics about cars. What would you recommend in this case?

Well in that case, i would either recommend learning what is needed to do the swap. Or saving enough money to have a shop that has SOME knowledge of our model toyota celica. Most shops dont, so be careful. This is to some people a "basic" swap, but it does include some extensive work (wiring harness, fabrication of little parts, etc..) If you are planning on getting a clip that would be better everything you need would be there. I myself am in the middle of a swap its in the shop right now and i work on it about 2 times a week. I myself am no magician at car mechanics, but i am having a guy who knows much about the 3sgte to help me. So my answer to your question would be to (unless you will learn about it) let someone with knowledge in this field do the swap. Hope this helps my friend. |

You could take out a loan and pay the bank monthly. But no shop is gonna put you on a payment method.

Dont modify a car you have to make payments on. There will be things that come up post swap that will cost money to address and you dont want to have to pay for those AND make payments. Your best bet is to save up for it. Also, make sure the guy you get to do the swap knows what he is doing.

Other thing to keep in mind, A swap adds no real value to the car. You put that money in, you will never see it again.. So Id say save atleast half, and keep thinking if you really want one, then get a loan.

a swap most definitly adds value to the car, not as much as it costs, but still adds value..
its just how patient you are, chanh sold his car for like 5 grand because he wanted it gone soon, ryu (i think?) on the other hand sold his for like 9 cause he was patient |

suggested retail value for a good condition celica is
$7,715 swap cost est 3,000$ thats 10,000$ (and yes lagos i'm talking about the money you put into the car) (outside this community) and it is a proven fact you will not get back wat you put into a car you will not get 10,000$ for a used celica thats been modified and you have to realize if you sell inside an enthusiast community you might make a little more back then if you sold it in the real world putting body kits and rims on a car then trading it in will make it lose trade in value then if you had traded in a stock car because its harder to resell and its LESS reliable clearly and to the point if you don't have the money to modify your car then wait till you do...cars are NOT a return investment it is a DEPRECIATING investment from the second you sign the paper work to buy it.. i used a 96....and FYI art's car is a 98 and its swapped...
wow and digging out insults way to be mature...i never said you mentioned bodykits and rims boy wonder...i'm talking about modifications in GENERAL... and most everyday people don't know the difference between a 3sgte, 7afe, and 5sfe...i'm talking car value out in the world not inside a confined car community..but i'm not going to picker with you...its retarded... clear and simply put...if you want to take out a loan to put modifications on a car becareful..your taking out a loan on something you won't get back for what you put into it...if you decided you don't like it and want to sell...well you probably won't make back wat you owe and end up paying for something you no longer have...or if something goes wrong..you might end up paying for something you can't use..and still owe on it....so if you can handle that then by all means, just something to think about This post has been edited by playr158: Aug 12, 2006 - 11:15 PM |
