Hey guys!! I have not been on in forever ive been so busy but I have been setting up some community service stuff and I was trying to think of some nice new ideas and I realized some of you might have had some exceptional experiences in your life. If you all have any good experiences you can share for ideas of places I can try to set up some service for our group I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance David. |

First off let me say that I think it’s appalling that no one has responded to this. The first time I see something of value in the off topic section and it’s ignored for threads of half naked girls and drifting videos.
I’ve done some community service I think the most rewarding was when I sang at the retirement home in my town. Recently my grandmother was sent there to recover from an accident and I spent some time talking to some of the residents there. They really appreciate just having someone visit and talk with them. Play cards or whatever. I’ve also done some stuff working with kids which ended up with me working at a day care. If you call schools or retirement homes and mention that you want to do some community service and they will work with you. Hopefully this helps you Tina -------------------- Buy my Celica $2,500 - http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=76562&st=0

I have volunteered driving prison inmates to Narcotics Anonymous meetings and it is one of the best things I have ever done. I also volunteered at the Salvation Army helping them clean up and serve food which was also incredibly rewarding. Back in high school I had to do community service (not really volunteer work though...) and I shreded old court documents and police and jail files. That was awesome because I just read through the reports all day.

lmao I agree, to a point. Animals are cool, becuase they're full of life, the homeless, well, let's just say I don't give handouts.

I dont know if you've found the answer your looking for, but i was community service advisor for our highschool, which meant i was responsible for making sure everything went smoothly behind the scenes with paperwork and what not. It really depends on your group though, i know that highschoolers and that age love to work with young kids, which is always fun. Older people tend to enjoy walking events, (like Race for the cure, or Relay for life). Theres also your typical adopt a highway, or you can see about volunteering at a minor league baseball team stadium and work concessions. Then they will donate to your group.
man i love community service...hopefully this makes sense, and can help. -------------------- I am now a part of the ihavemorethen16gc club! |

Back when i was in high school i could attain community service hours by doing TECH work around the school for my teacher. Pretty sweet deal considering that i had the class a hour and half everyday so it wasnt hard for me to get hours.

I did community service for trail service...
Basically I hiked half a mountain and just dug up roots that could trip hikers for like 9 hours... I really didn't enjoy it cuz it was freezing cold and raining the whole time >_< But it kept me from having to do a huge project in my science class so -------------------- 2003 Nissan Murano SE |

I did community service my 3rd semester of college. I helped organized food that was then distributed to people in need. Actually wasn't all that bad, actually enjoyed it.

Thanks guys for all your positive responces! I have been looking for a couple new things to throw into our service projects for a splash of difference and there were a few things I dint have down and a couple I might push harder now since you all seemed to enjoy them.
I really appreciate your time to comment David. |
