OMG! its wat you have on your car...typical style screw clamp aka a worm clamp quality and overkill are two different things make sure you can tell the difference.. just like a quality IC setup should have beaded ends of pipes, but most of us don't have those now do we...but its not overkill its just a quality job... |

I won't be using the screw clamps. I've had too many of those come apart when really trying to tighten down on something, and as of recently have had them chewing through in-tank fuel lined causing leaks. T-Bolt Clamps all the way for me.

QUOTE(brianforster @ Jul 23, 2006 - 10:27 PM) ok nobody listen to what i have to say, but go ahead, spend 2x the amount on t-bolts, if it helps you sleep at night. i had normal clamps on mine. for a while everything seemed ok, till one day my IC piping poped off on the highway and the car stalled out. it was the pipe right next to a super hot exhaust manifold. that was a lot of fun trying to fix and not get burned. i got t-bolts and have never had a pipe come loose in the 2+yrs since ive had them . so, yeah ..get t-bolts. just dont over torque them of you have thin aluminum piping. you can get everything you need from ebay. get the long tube that the sell by the foot on ebay. its the cheapest way to go, and you have the benefit of cutting the pieces as long as you want them to be. a 4foot tube should be enough. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

you like your lables way too much....stop sticking behind your 150 inch pound crap....worm style are PROVEN to be lesser quality then a T-bolt for obivous reasons...the thread on the screw or on the band can get messed up and not allow for full torquing of the clamp....i have already replaced 2 worm styles on my jetta because of this reason as well as fastbird already had an issue with worm style as has art...that makes 3 of us in a very small group of people
t-bolts will not deform the track/thread as does a worm this makes them more reliable... but if we really really wanna get into this...then we should all invest into a set of WIGGINS clamps which cost over 100$ per clamp http://www.burnsstainless.com/Hardware/Wig...ginsclamps.html these are the clamps playr likes This post has been edited by playr158: Jul 23, 2006 - 10:55 PM |

worm clamps are more likely to cut into the couplers as well.

YOU CANT CLAIM THAT T-BOLT CLAMPS ARE BETTER THAN WORM CLAMPS AS A WHOLE, THERE CAN BE CHEAP T-BOLTS THAT ARE WORSE THAN EXPENSIVE WORM CLAMPS!
You talk about me hiding behind labels? you guys are all hiding behind the fact that it says "t-bolt" on your clamp, i think the real discussion should be what brands of clamps are good. I certainly am going to stick with the fact that my worm style clamps are better and stronger than any of your cheapo ebay clamps. ok im sorry if im out of line here but you all are being ridiculous, the original statement was to use t-bolt clamps because they are stronger and wont blow off under boost, but my clamps are rated at a higher torque specification than any one elses, yet you are STILL NITPICKING AT REASONS WHY T-BOLTS ARE BETTER, you show me numbers that prove that, and ill back down This post has been edited by brianforster: Jul 23, 2006 - 11:21 PM |

please do, shut me up, i beg of you, but as of right now all im hearing is a bunch of people sit around and say "yep.. t-bolt clamps are better, cause they are called t-bolt, it doesnt matter what brand it is, just get the t-bolt.. t-bolt t-bolt t-bolt t-bolt.. by the all worm clamps suck, even if god forged a worm clamp himself, the 3.75$ ebay t-bolt will TROUNCE it in capabilities."

i am just a little pissed that im the only person to give a specific link and quote an actual number yet the bandwagon comes along and completely disregards what i have to say and assume that t-bolts are godly.
