On the way home today from the Deptford mall, headed down Route 42 through Turnersville over towards the Friday Night meet @ Fuddruckers (for anyone local who wants an idea). Ended up behind an early 70's Pontiac A-Body (GTO or Temptest, I didn't get a clear view of the nose) and a Fox Body Mustang GT, 90-93 body. They went from a roll at about 45, I was in 4th and could have easily gone down a gear or two. Anyway, they hit it, and as soon as they did I did. Of course, it took a second for me to get in the powerband, and they pulled a couple cars during that time, but as soon as she boosted I started reeling them in!! I really didn't expect it, but I actually had to brake to keep from overtaking them too badly. The guys in the mustang kept turning around looking like WTF?????????

I can't wait to get a real run instead of just chasing two guys who are running.

3S-GTE The four banger that could. GT mustangs are the 4.6 (or 4.8 i forget) v8s i thnk they push like 260 bhp stock. Sounds like the swap was a success, congrats. Have u dynoed your bar bro?

A bodies are heavy and 5.0 mustangs are pretty sad cars without mods. Heck, I've seen DOHC Neons almost overtake 5.0 mustangs (no joke).

Doesn't suprise me.

But for the amount of money you spent on your swap, that fox box could be making what? 500 billion horsepower or something ridiculous like that? That motor has an excellent dollar to horsepower ratio.

I wouldn't call it a replacement for displacement, because there's this low end thing called torque...biggrin.gif

The fox body cars were rated at around 220 HP and 300 TQ IIRC. The A-Body probably had a smallblock 350 in it and it was ragged out bad. But they're not as heavy as you might think, only about 3700-3800 lbs. It was funny though because the thing was LOUD and when he downshifted it just screamed but he didn't go anywhere. Kinda sad actually. lol

oh yeah? thats good to know!. how much do you weigh? the extra battery is probably 50lb.... so it would be somwhere around 2700ish without the driver?

id love to weigh mine and see how much weight the 3s adds to the whole car.

yea... this thread is of an illegal street race with a swapped engine... not to be confused with an illegal street race with stock economy motors. which apparently makes this thread okay and tolerable by 6gc.net...

Didn't you just forget to include the section about how just before you hit it, you turned off the City streets onto private property?

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
