Some of you may know that I'm in the process of developing a buyer/seller reputation system. As I was thinking about implementation of it today, it occurred to me that a rule for the Buying/Selling forum needed to be changed.

NEW RULE

Once your transaction(or all transactions, in the case of multiple items for sale, group buys, part-outs, etc.) is complete, you must edit the topic description(the box under the title) to say "COMPLETED". It's EXTREMELY important that the topic title and the post are left unchanged! Management will lock the topic, and it will remain visible and intact for use with the buyer/seller reputation system.

This is very important because the reputation system will require a valid buying/selling url when leaving feedback.

So from now on, please follow this rule when using the Buying/Selling forum. If people don't follow this rule, the reputation system will not work and will not be implemented.

Regards,
Christian Coomer

Once the person is done selling everything, or has finished parting out the car, then they need to do this.

For group buys and posts with multiple transactions and stuff, you don't edit the topic description to say "COMPLETED" until everything is done and completed. Is that what you're not understanding?

ok what people who get pms about random pieces.... Like someone has pm'd me before asking for a headlight and there was no topic, but i sold it to them.... what about this type of thing? Because it would be extra clutter if a thread had to be started

The reputation system is designed to work with buying/selling threads for a very good reason.

Without reference to a thread, people could(and would) spam other people with feedback even if there was no transaction.

The thread is to the buyer/seller reputation system what a receipt is to a store in a sense. It's necessary to keep track of transactions.

I'm not going to seperate it into sections...it would be way too much work, it'd be better for everyone if it were integrated into just one section, and there's little need in my opinion, seeing as how most completed transactions are still in the Buying/Selling forum and the system will work just fine for mass sales. I'm not sure about how many transactions are completed via PM, but the seller can make a post or the involved members can just go without feedback for that transaction.

either prorating the rating from the "seller list" if possible or starting from scratch is fine with me.

I'm just glad an organized buyer/seller rating will be in place, it will make things easier for everyone

I dunno about starting clean ---> what do people like me do, when we sell stuff, but not at a rate like batman?

It would be good imo to do something with the "good" sellers list (integrating it into with the new system) so when we sell stuff in the future, people can see we are good sellers....i don't know if you guys get what i'm saying...but i just thought i'd post me 2cents.

yea coom, its gotta start from now on, i donno about you, but i dont have the time to go through all the buy/sell threads we threw in the deleted forum back when we were doing all the house cleaning and restore them... soooo much work, plus its not fair for people who's threads we cant find or were completely washed off by accident.

Could you just do something with the "good sellers" list instead?

I think he means carry over the transaction data from the
sellers list we have now. Batman as an example has many
good transactions and shouldn't have to start from ground zero.

Edit: Snap I think you can get back to where you are now pretty
quickly.
