my stock amp is junk and i know i dont need it anyway, so is there anyone who can hook me up with a link or a walkthrough for bypassing the amp? Ive already physically pulled the amp out so now i have a stereo in one hand and three male plugs in the other. Im am absolutely clueless when it comes to audio i just like there to be some sort of music coming out when i turn on the car! Any input would be awesome

you need to be using an aftermarket headunit that has an amp built in. then get the right harness for your car, and plug it right in. if the new harness dosnt match the plugs you have in the car, then trace the cars harness back intill you find a place where the original harness can be disconnected at, and plug the new on into those plugs.

hope that makes sense.

yeah it makes sense, but i dont think that'll work...

I am replacing an already aftermarket headunit and it does have a built in amp. I have the harness for my car and i can hook it into another harness inside, but that one plugs directly into the amp and does not fit in any other harness plug. I'm just so lost at this point lol

what you need to do is gat a harness for the non amplified system that has two plugs(metra70-1764-I think?) and on the side of your amp you will find the two plugs that fit the harness you bought.

these plugs should be near the bottom of your center console under your radio.

alright so the two plugs you are talking about, I'm assuming you are talking about the two blue ones connected underneath the amp. Where can i pick up one of these harness's for non-amped systems?

edit: will this work?

Ok, theres a stock amp located somewhere below the player looks like a metal box. trace your premium player harness all the way to this stock amp. Pull of what looks like the aftermarket plug and play harness and connect it to this. Now, the only problem now is that your door subs might not work but everything else will, I'm thinking the amp you will pull off the harness jumps to another stock amp under your drivers chair which powers the sub. Just in case, you may need to run another amp or run those two subs straight to the player. Its better though to seperate from the player, you do not want to overwhelm the player. Good Luck.

yes, that is the harness, and no not the blue blugs

I think that the blue plugs go to one plug that goes to the radio.
what you need is the two white plugs that plug into the other side of the box(amp) than the blue plugs.

with wiring this way everything should work

alright I ordered the harness, b ut out of my amp I haved three plugs the harness only have two. I think the third runs to the other amp under my seat which takes care of the woofers, so will they really not work? and is there a way to tie them into my currently bypassed system?

alright, harness came in! so i hooked it up and EVERYTHING works awesome! there is one minor thing you should know is that it was the two blue plugs under the amp that it needed to be plugged into. but thats it. and as i said, everything including the woofers are working. so i guess the metra 70-1761 harness bypassed both amps! thanks guys
