I met this person at my local auto parts store and was looking for some aftermarket equipment to put on my 94 celica st ;)and she saids something along the lines that you should not customize your car because it looks nice like it is. Why is it that people dislike other people who exercise their free will and modify their cars? confused.gif

u can take it as that. But its like, those old 40's buicks and fords that are chopped and channeled. They turned those old cars into fast, loud roadsters, every generation has that. Some people just dont understand, but they'll spend $300 on a friggin Coach purse, women!

Their priorities don't always change, some people just have other priorities. Not everyone is into cars, some are into computers, movies, sports...

Just as I don't see a point in learning to oil paint, they don't see a point in learning about their cars or taking the time/money to modify them.

I just tell my parents that it's a hobby for me and I would say "Wouldn't you rather see me putting alot of money into my car instead of getting more tattoos?" After, I said that, they totally understand.

My girlfriends mom is like "Why does he want to make his car go faster! It already goes plenty fast". Bah, she also won't let one of her kids get anything that is a current production sedan. Booo...

There's a simple reason for this, I lived with it for years and I finally got an explanation :

The reason old people don't dig customization for cars? It lowers the resale value. You gotta realize that if these people aren't all that old, they were teenagers once, and they probably modded their chevys & what not. They're trying to "help" you out and make sure you aren't wasting your money.

You will hear this excuse from ANYBODY that is against custom cars : "You will NEVER see any of that money again."

Which is probably true to a certain point. They're just old, and they're a lot wiser when it comes to the money. That comes with age. That's the reason you see a bunch of old RICH bastards.

i believe customization use to decrease re-sale value... but in this day in age where every teen and their parents have seen the F&F and most kids want hot imports... it wouldn't be hard to get back the money u put into ur celica... just my .02 cents biggrin.gif

Hay this you guys and girls... Because I wanted to and will customize it but I don't want to trick it out to the point that it looks lousy and losses the CELICA ST's key feature, ITS HANDLING. So I would like to ask another question... How can you make a car like the Celica look as exotic as a ferrari and perform at that same level? Quote I don't have the 6th gen. Celica GT but a 6th gen Celica ST. So I know that some of the performance I seek won't be there but still how.

Thanks again yal...
