CA18DET = awsome motor. Its actually an RB block, minus 2 cylinders. My buddy has a 180sx and its rediculusly nice. I say yes, but shouldnt this be in the off topic section?
Personaly though..go silvia or 180..sileights are kinda strange lookin |

Just for information. The history of the sil-eighties are this. When racers use to drift or race their 180SX, they would damage the front end, and they found it cheaper to run the S-13 front end (Sivia front) instead because the flip light front was expensive to replace. So people started creating a new style called the Sil-Eighty. Silvia/180 put together. In time, Nissan found it popular among racers and finally manufactured their own Sil-eighty for sale. Overall, these are good cars to have for style and drift. I always wanted one. Theres maybe only 4-5 sileighties where I'm at.

Actually, bladder master, it is true, this was a mod originally done in the streets because of damaged front ends. The reason for the swap was because it was cheaper and lighter to do for replacement. To get more detailed, the Japanese shop called Kids Heart, made about 500 of them and sold them through Nissan dealerships. In that case, I guess Nissan really didn't make them at all but took the credit for it. and really, its whatever engine came with a 180SX matched with Silvia front which made the car a sileighty. The point of this mod was more exterior than engine really. The type of engine it had did not make it called the sileighty. Who agrees with me?

^^ nope, the 'eighty' is from the 180SX, which was a lighter and more well-balanced car, hence better for drifting... a SILvia front end instead of the pop-up headlights that was stock on the 180.

Actually, like what I said was Kids Heart was the company that manufactured it for Nissan and Nissan took the credit for it.

I did not see the first pic, but the circular design ones are JDM. Actually both appeared in the Japan market but its kinda like our celicas. Theres an older JDM version and a newer one.

Nissan did produce a limited edition of the SilEighty which had an SR20DET and was sold in the late 90's I think.
The older chopped up SilEighties were as mentioned here... 180sx's with Silvia fronts and the stock 180's ran the ca18... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

if i remember right, the tail lights in the first pic were for the sileightys that kwanza just mentioned...or "type x" iunno the whole nissan deal, there too much weirdness
but yea, US 240 hatchbacks come with the tails of the 2nd pic, (except they say 240sx), and you can get 180's or the "kouki"(easier to call it this for me...guessing it's what it is in essence(first pic)) online. -------------------- |
