^ i will live at home for the next 10 years if I have to rather than join the military

my gf is in the army reserve...yeah, she hates it. she joined so they would pay for her schooling and, well she's not even going to school @ the moment.

btw nat, I hear you on this. my parents (well my mom, cuz they are divorced) are cool with me now but my mom used to freak if i ever did anything. I am 22 (and yes still live @ home, myslef *sigh*) and things are fine now.

Not ot give you advice but your mom prolly isn't gonna change the way she is so it's best not to let it bother you. let it roll off your back. and please please don't hit the barrier doing 80. think of your car! lol!

hang in thurr.

She says its weird for a 21 year old girl to act like this way towars her mother and tell her NOTHING of whats going on in her life. and I dont see it weird. I just dont feel I need my mom to know whats going on. Shes not my friend..she raised me and thats good enough. I dont need my parents to be my best friends.

oh and PS

MOM IF YOURE READING THIS - HI!

Hey girl,

I'm 20, and I was a "well-behaved" girl growing up too, and my mom is the exact same way.

The whole island is convinced that she is insane.

I live on a 13 x 3 mile island and I go to college here, and I live in the dorms even though my mother lives 15 minutes away. Whenever people ask why I don't just save myself some money and live with her, I tell them "you haven't met her." She's a cool woman and all, just an over-protective mother.

Your mom doesn't need to be your friend, doesn't need to know what's going on all the time...you are your own adult now, she's not the adult that solves your problems anymore. Stick it out as long as you can, but start making plans to move out NOW! Look into apartments, try and find a room mate if that will help, etc...

...and if you want to run away to the Caribbean, PM me! biggrin.gif

It's not weird that you want to independent, and seperated from you mom. By your mom forcing herself closing to you, she is actually forcing you further away...

The fact is that some parents are more controlling than others, and you can't do anything to change your mom. She is who she is.

It's expensive to live anywhere, but you gotta do what you gotta do, in order to keep your sanity. Your treating eachother like your 16, not 21. By moving out, you will both learn a lot about yourselves, and your relationship (it only gets better, I know this because I've been there and know exactly how your feeling).

My advice, move out, mature a lot more, and good luck to both of you!

But i cant move out right now cuz I would need a co-signer cuz of my credit history :-( oopsy! so moving out is not an option right now.

well 825 is for one that i wouldnt want to live in but would if i had to. 900 is about the cheapest i would go personally. but the one I have dreamt about for 2 years is about 1100.

I think renting is such a waste of money personally so id rather put a downpayment on a Townhome or something.

town home or condo first. sit on it for 2 years then sell it. then find a nice 2+2 rambler...sit on it. sell it. then find a NICE 2+2...sit on it. sell it. then you will be able to afford yourself a nice little house..

nice. if you have something better avail. to you, take it! I was contemplating buying a "condo" a while back but could not get myself to spend $200k on 700 sq ft of nothing.

Condos used to be condos. nice mini luxury get aways. now investors see an oportunity to rape the poor person and start selling crappy assed renovated apts. and lable them condos...which they are not.

If you know someone that is reliable, a townhome is an excellent idea. you can rent one side to cover a good portion of your mortgage..

That's my plan anyway...when I stop spending money on cars.

...which will be never! hahA!

If you can't move out, at least keep invovled in life outside of your house. The less your there and the more you associate with the outside world, the more your mom will have to accept that you are an adult and that you are going to leave the nest some day.

You can have a good relationship with her, but she doesn't, and shouldn't have to be your "friend."

Keep up the good vibes as much as you can, try and have a nice, sit-down, no-yelling conversation and ask for some provacy. Ask her if she would treat her sister or her coworkers this way, because you are an adult like them and have the responsibility of choosing what you want to do with yourself.

God, my mom wouldn't even want to know about all of the "adult" or "mature" forums I'm in, and if she found out I was, she'd probably cancel her internet. If you're mom is flippin' over myspace and this forum, she needs a reality check...

like I said, sit down, don't yell, restrain yourself, and politely ask for some space. You don't go through her stuff...why should she go through yours?

Do you talk like this in real life too? Read what you wrote and tell me if it sounds like something a little punk would say.
