general questions about brakes.. I got some new wheels for my car.. from the stock 14s to 15s [205/50s] the braking didnt really change. Only had the the brakes lock once during hard breaking.
Now I changed my set again.. from the 15s [205/50s] to 16x7 [225/45s] When braking.. The car feels like it will just slide out. I havent tested a hard brake yet [just got them on sat night.] The tires on them are ES100s which are real sticky. Can anyone explain this? Or is it just me. |

You'd be surprised. Brakes are only effective to the maximum grip of the tire. You could have a KILLER set of brakes on a car with a crappy set of tires and stop worse than a stock equipped car. I've seen a bit of talk about the 7th Gen brakes being a direct fit to the 6th gen, so it would reason that a 7th gen brake kit would be a (whatever is involved depending on the kit) simple installation also. Unconfirmed, but I'm going to be hitting some junkyards for one of our cars and will try to find a front brake setup from a 7th gen also. Thats really pricey. dunno bout the rear but it might be alil cheaper since it should be slightly smaller... or maybe more expensive since they need to make the ebrake drums too... -------------------- |

i heard that a big brake kit doesnt do much better than just upgrading your stocks. like getten a better compound pads and drilled/slotted rotors. is there that big of a different? i know it would be a lot cheaper than getten willowood. not as sexy but cheaper.

some of us paid less for our clips than that brake setup!!!! thats really expensive and i dont think the 7th gen setup will work on ours. i got some nopi drilled and slotted rotors and my friend who gave them to me said the company accidentally sent the wrong rotors...he was working on a 7th gen and they didnt quite fit. so he gave them i mean sold them to me.

the universal Hat...
look at the rotor its 2 piece...piece 1) actuall contact surface (disk) 2)hat where it slides over your studs and mounts to your hub... its not application specific, many holes = not specific design FTL |
