That car looks nice - but compare it to a similarly styled 2 door sports car with curves: This post has been edited by jgreening: Sep 1, 2006 - 10:07 PM -------------------- QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this. |

QUOTE(95sweetness @ Sep 1, 2006 - 10:36 PM) lol im no ricer who hits boost all the time...im a 20 yr old kid whos workin 40 hrs a week to afford the car n go to school full time as well...n out of boost u get passed by ever1? then itll be the same for the vr4...n an exhaust does an ass load for the car...easy 30 whp fo the evo Hey true ricers don't even have boost. Wanna let you know first, Evos are great cars, but they put a big dent in your pocket every month, and I'm sure full coverage insurance for a 20 year old will be the same as the car payment. I can see how you think the VR-4 and Evo are alike, but my experience, very different. Think of a VR-4 like a touring car, and the Evo as a rally car. The small stock turbos (I can't afford a turbo upgrade) spool very differently than an Evo, and at much lower RPM. An Evo owner I know, thinks a VR-4 is better on the highway (smooth torque and acceleration, much longer gears). [Sorry I don't mean to go OT, but I gotta add that I gained 20awhp and 46awtq, 2800rpm, from full exhaust] I know the Evo handles better, and I do wish my car weighed more like an Evo, instead it's a pig at 3800 pounds dry. Going from a Celica to an Evo you will be very happy, just be careful about the monthly $$$. Possibly 4 dollar signs? i don't know if turbo 4's are different, but i do NOT have to hit boost to keep up with traffic unless on a pretty steep hill.
and even then it's like 5psi max. . . exhaust comment came after comments of mpg hurting with a turbo, which lost me, because to help gas mileage i'm guessing you'd want a more restrictive exhaust. . .better low end, that is unless you're talking about acceleration and boosting. evo9s running ~20psi stock is AWESOME what numbers do they have now? i respect the cars greatly, but i gotta say that i'm not a fan of the 4-door. s2k hawtness, Live On! -------------------- |

IMO, Jay and I are seeing eye to eye on this one. Ya evo's are fast, but you can have something thats just as fast and looks 10 times better. I dont agree with what people are saying about STi's tho. Im a huge fan and always will be. I fell in love the first time that i drove one. I've driven and evo 8, and i felt, ... bulky. i dunno. and srt-4 owners, are just mostly ex-neon owners, that are like OMFG A TURBO! lets BOV like 283452875275 times at every stop light! -------------------- Teh Celica sleeps for Winter '06. SRT-4's are what F-bodys were back in the late 90's--cheap and fast out of the box, and that pissed everyone off because some idiot could go buy a car that'd blow the doors off of theirs, so they automatically said it was crap and that all the owners were idiots.
When in reality it's all just jealousy.... maybe not of the car itself--but of the speed. The truth is that there's not much out there (new) that's faster for your dollar than an SRT-4. It's been like that since they originally went on sale. Tack on excellent aftermarket factory support and you've got a formula for success. Even the old Neon DOHC coupes could spank any stock/lightly modded 6gc up and down all day. Some people just don't like to admit the truth because it's 1) a Dodge and 2) a Neon. |

i was a big fan of the srt4 when it 1st came out. i mean, you have to give props to doge for making a car like that, for that price.
now as more time goes by, im begining to realize that they are the new civic in the car world. all these young kids buy them and do alot of ricer mods. i see so many of them with dumb side exhausts, bad rims, and all kinds of other crap. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

i dunno about the srt-4. cuz yeah, 1) its a dodge and 2) its a neon. but evo's and sti's are the hotness. turbo-charged awd power. but of course they're not as sexy as the gt-four. in fact i think they look ugly without their spoilers, which is something i cannot say about our celicas.

i really like the sti look, interior and build quality, but when i noticed how their turbo is mounted about 4 feet away from the exhaust manifold, i was really turned off.
