someone is syfoning your oil!!!
how many miles? check your coolant and make sure is clean (not getting oil in it.) and keep a close eye under the car when your parked. could be a number of things though. QUOTE I need a new 5sfe within the next few months :-( blah! ? I can think of a diff motor that would be a better choice and get you closer to that gt-4 clone status -------------------- |

to loose that much there must be a leak, tricky thing is that the leak may only be loosing oil when the oil pressure is at a certain level.

let the motor warm up to normal op temp and then take a trouble light and check for leaks in the obvious places first. Around gaskets and seals, oil filter, bolt, pan.

omg lol i have a noticable leak from the pan and my #1 cylinder is burning oil and i only use about a quart in a week/200 miles or so .
its odd u dont notice 6 quarts going some where. smoke from the tail pipe, smoke from the engine bay, and a puddle of oil on the ground should be noticable. omg lol i have a noticable leak from the pan and my #1 cylinder is burning oil and i only use about a quart in a week/200 miles or so . its odd u dont notice 6 quarts going some where. smoke from the tail pipe, smoke from the engine bay, and a puddle of oil on the ground should be noticable. good luck with the search |

Either you have a huge oil leak...or your piston rings are shot

QUOTE(rayneezy23 @ Aug 31, 2006 - 11:00 PM) so im assuming thats really bad Yes oil in the coolant is bad. that means you have a head gasket leak. I thought a quart about every 3000 miles was bad. You need to check everything. Mostly like Bitter said. I would make this a priority before you do any day to day driving. Wouldn't want it to run dry. |

QUOTE(Daftboy @ Sep 1, 2006 - 12:28 AM) oil pump could have a leak in it If the oil pump was leaking it would have low oil pressure. The oil pump is in the crankcase. |

Any updates on it?
Unlikely you are burning even CLOSE to that much oil. Unless you have HUGE clouds of blue smoke and a loss in power. rings don't go that fast, unless you suddenly blew something. And you should hear a noise at the very least. If it's a leak, same thing. You will have a pretty good sized puddle.... And they normally don't just happen that large either. Unless something popped off.... Do you have any more info? -------------------- |

The rings are not bad, she has probably BROKEN a ring. Hell, it probably looks like a dang mosquito fogger running down the street. Good luck.

I believe it's just a cooler on the block under the filter.
Coolant flows around the oil. VERY unlikely it is leaking there, at least not into the coolant. -------------------- |
