i was thinking of addin a turbo to my ride....but scared that riding turbo with an auto would be overkill.......is this an idea to think about???? or is it not even worthwhile?......

learn to drive stick and do an auto to manual tranny swap. its a lot more fun. and it seems faster than auto. my st is faster than my friends auto corolla which has like 25 more hp. but then again, it also depends on the driver.

You know, a lot of people choose automatic transmissions because they WANT one, not because they don't know how to drive a stick. Most performance vehicles (i.e. supra) are quicker with an automatic, and will hold boost better.

i have been thinking about that since a while.....wouldnt an auto tranny with a "powerful" engine be good for traction issue?...the gt auto tranny should be stronger to handle that power...

can we use a camry/solara auto tranny? but there still a tranny swap to do biggrin.gif

your right,..however...the celica is NOT a "performance vehicles" (at least not our version of it here in the USA) lmao
oobe has an auto ST thats been turboed for awhile now..although with the way the tranny shifts ect, id imagine you'd loose a fair amount of performance..
it would still be ALOT faster than your stock GT tho...lol wink.gif

people get automatics in supras, because when you're pushing 1000bhp, there isn't any way humanly possible to shift through all the gears that fast.

riding a turbo with an auto isnt a bad thing, it just isn't necessarily as fun as a 5 speed. also, if you did do a auto/manual swap, you'd lose a good amount of weight.

a race clutchless tranny in a supra isint the same thing that youll find in a normal street car. you normally loose a lot of power from an auto tranny.

todd on ctech has an auto 5sfTe. i think his dyno was something like 130-140ish at the wheels and he said he can feel the tranny slip all the time because it cant hold the power.

yeah, i couldn't see putting down massive amounts of numbers from an auto ST, for example.

i'd probably blow up the trans after about 7-8psi, or the engine, whichever comes first.
