in theory, if the latch still functions w/ the hood, you dont need pins, and since so many ppl have the hood w/o the pins, it seems to work in practice too. if you just want it for looks, you could prolly do it, but if your unsure AT ALL, i would have a shop do it, but hey i dont have a CF hood so dont listen to me. but from the evidence we have it seems like the pins are not needed. plus for punctioning pins you need to like drill stuff or weld stuff under the hood for the pins. and dont get those crap stick on ones. i personally dont like hood pins, but to each his own. i would have a shop do it unless you have the tools and know exactly what youre doing. cuz one slip and you ruin your hood.

if your making crazy power then i would definately suggest hood pins. carbon fiber hoods being so light its very easy for the latch to break and flip up on the windshield (from the air turbulence and crap). it has happened to two people i know. one owns an integ w/built ls turbo and the other an 240sx w/SR20DET. but if you have a fairly stock celi with bolt-ons and no swap and not doin 100+ mph you dont really need it. but it doesnt hurt having them as a safety precaution plus i kinda like the look (depending on how you do it). most people without pins don't really race so they dont need it its just those hardcore people that really need it.
