So, heres alittle story that might get some gears turning... i wish mine did.
Earlier this week. tuesday to be exact, the 6gc got dropped off at a maaco for a nice 2,000 dollar paint job. their "best". knowing, maaco has had alot of issues with their paintjobs and what not, still sceptical as i dropped it off. Had one of those feelings you get, like you know something is goign to go wrong... They said it would be dont by friday. Friday comes, no phone call. kinda upset, but understandable. so today, while at school, my parents drive to go pick it up. And say the paint looks amazing. took camera phone pictures and txtd them to me. and it looks amazing from what i see. knowing my dad, being a perfetionest, he would not pay them if there was anything wrong with the paint. So while looking over the paint, the manager comes up to my parents and tells them something quite frustrating to us all. My dad one, compliments and thanks him on what a great job they did with the paint job. and he says thank you, but.... He handed my father the keys to the car, and it starts up and sounded alittle weird. then makes some crazy noises says my mom and then stops kinda, like if the car stalled, but in slow motion. and then would not turn back on..... hmm? wtf happened? the guy told my dad that there was something wrong with the enginge and that on MONDAY, they will look at it. When we dropped the car off, we took the carbon fiber hood off, knowing, maaco, they **** up, we dont want them painting this 400 dollar hood. thinking the car would be inside the garage while they worked on it. the car sat through a horrible rain / dust / wind storm with no hood, and now does not run at all. and whats even worse, they want us to pay for the repairs that they caused to my car. And now i have to wait untill monday for them to Even LOOK at what they did to it. but by all means, the paintjob seriously looks amazing. but the fact that my car is now not running. really pisses me the **** off. may i add, the car also has 5+ more miles on the car, than it did when we dropped it off. joy riding anyone? Did they tell you it would be inside while it waited? If not, I don't really think its their fault.

wow no wonder no one wants to go to macco unless its a touch up or something...of all the people i've known who went to macco, they had negative feedbacks...bubbles on the car, some parts were sanded and some weren't, sanding sucked cause you can see it, certain parts weren't painted, overspray, blah blah blah. sorry to hear the news man! hopefully they get what they did!

get a lawyer. there is no other advice.
you'll pay a little bit, but they'll pay more for the repairs. the fact that they took your car for a 5 mile joyride is completely unacceptable, and is borderline thievery. |

MAACO suck I just had mine done and yeah not sanded and prepped properly, orange peel like mad. There were spots where they didnt spray enough some sprayed too much and had runs, dust in the paint.
I asked for a Base/ clear and instead got a single stage polyurethane. I took it back to them and even after a second time it wasnt done right! But it looks a hella lot better then before. |

yeah for the paintjob i payed for i guess its their top of the line or whatever. it seriously looks good. no orange peeling, no bubbles, no drips. no nothing. but now the car doesnt run, lol. im taking my digital camera when i go there tommorow morning and ill take pictures of the paint for you guys. and yes, they removed the fenders, front bumper and spoiler and crap to paint it. then wetsanded it and crap before the clear coat? i dont know but the maaco here by my house, is different, its actually nice. so we will see if the car runs tommorow or not. i talked to a friend whose a mechanic, and he said something could have just gotten wet, i dont know what, and that would cause it to not run. and that it would take a day or two to dry out and then it would be back to normal, so im hoping thats what it is. cuz if i have to wait another 3 months to drive this car cuz they need to put a new engine in it, ill be pissed. but if they do need to replace it, it WILL be replaced with a 3sgte from http://www.jdmenginedepot.com/catalog/prod...99ee8d12ec3ec92
ill update you guys tommorow. goodnight. |

it doenst matter how good of a lawyer you have, theres no way you will get a 3sgte put in your car, that would be exploiting this situation, not only that, but i wouldnt trrust MAACO trying to figure out how to put a 3sgte into your car, considering its a custom job. Get your parts fixed and learn your lesson. You had doubts about MAACO, and have heard all the negative feedback, yet you still took your car there....

okay just back from maaco.
When i got there, the car was sitting out front, showing off what a sexy beast she is. while standing out there, i had 2 people who walked passed, say how good it looked and that it was a nice looking car. made me feel good, but then again sad, cuz it doesnt run. lol. so i go inside, talk to the manager, he gets the keys, and we go outside. He tries to start the engine, and the whole car shakes back and forth. like you can feel the cylindars moving and shaking the whole car, watching the engine jump around in the engine bay i stepped back, hoping nothing was gunna fly off and hit me thats how bad it was shaking. the car wont turn over and just slowly dies from when you turn the key. it tries really hard to get going. Finally we got it started by pushing the gas and clutch in while starting it. it instantly smelled like i was jet skiing. the aroma of gasoline filled the air instantly with a hint of some smoke. as soon as i notice the smell of the smoke a cloud of smoke comes at us from the exhaust and alittle from up underneith the engine??? he revvs the engine and it is shaking horribly, at that moment i realized i should have been video taping it on my phone, but it didnt come to me until we had already shut it off. Their mechanic said it could be the fuel pump. to jfrost, it does matter what kind of lawyer i have, because we are ttrying to get all the money back for the paint + compensation for any damages, that is IF the engine needs to be replaced. They are however, looking at the car today about the fuel pump /if thats not it, we have a mechanic who does work on rally trucks for my fathers boss' company. Maaco would not be doign the swap if it comes down to the point we need a swap. I have already contacted a JDM engine swap shop here in arizona right on bell road, only a few miles from my house. They said it wouldnt be much more for a complete swap from 3sgte if the whole 7afe needs to be replaced. Talking to my lawyer like i said, we are trying to get full money back from the paint, and compensation for any damages or whatever its going to cost for a new engine, that is only IF the engine needs replacement. if its somenthing as easy as the fuel filter, we wont be taking them to court. but the paint looks good. heres some pics with my camera phone on my razr. theres no pics of the front bumper because they are repainting it, it got kinda blurry under the clear coat, so they are redoing that. other than that it looks good, what do you think? sorry bad quality. and it was sunny out. |

Ill be taking my car to arizona then, cuz i got a newly rebuilt 7afe installed for 1500 dollars, and if these guys are going to do the 3sgte swap for not much more, then i retract my previous statements. If you think your lawyer is that good that he can get the money for the new engine + swap, AND then get the money for the paint job back, then even more power to ya, my mom works for a judge and this kinda thing would never happen, but go for it.
