Greetings all. It's been a long while since I've been on the site, and I see there have been a LOT of changes. It looks really good. Your site is an invaluable resource for owners and enthusiasts of perhaps the most severely underestimated sporty coupe ever manufactured (IMHO).

My question: I'm trying to swap out the p-side rear suspension assembly on my 95 GT. I backed into something that wasn't as ductile as the components of my suspension, unfortunately.

So, the control arms(?) are severly bent. I thought of disassembling the whole thing and just replacing the control arms, but a mechanic friend of mine said it would be easier to drop out the whole assembly. So, I went to a junkyard and found a 6th gen GT and got a replacement assy., thinking I would just pop the old one out and pop the new (to me) one in.

Well, its been a while now, and even after using a 1/2 drive electrical impact wrench, I CANNOT remove the bolts to get the control arms off the chassis, as shown in the pic below. I'm not sure if I need to restrain a nut on the something on the other side or what. I mean, what kind of torques were these fasteners installed with?

Any suggestions on how to proceed with this would be helpful, thanks! Note that in the pic, I'm showing the driver side suspension for illustration. The p-side is too jacked up to use as an example...

either get a bigger more powerful impact, hold the other side from spinning, get a breaker bar and use the jack to move it, or borrow a winch and try to pull the bent member back nearer to shape then try to get it out.

if that doesnt work, then its probably faster to just grind it out.

Try some penetrating oil or try just heating the nut. I had to use a 1400lb impact wrench on a nut on a ford that I had just to get it off. Also the torque for that nut is 66 lb/ft.
Edit: I found this blow up pic of the rear. Number eight is the bolt that you could cut and replace.
