My car has cause problems after problems and it will never ends.
Well yesterday i was driving and suddently smoke start coming out of the front vent of my dash There as shown is where it came from. iono what it is but after i pulled over to check and turn on again it stoped. It smells like rubber burning. So i went on with the day hoping it was nothing. So today i went to turn on my car and the battery is dead, so i was like wth. So my bro help me jumped start it and after it starts i let it run for a min or 2 and turned it off. I noticed after i took out my key my engine turns off but everything stays on. My ac, headlight, and radio was on it. its like its on ACC. I check all the fuses its fine. iono how to tell if a relay is bad or not. so now im stuck with a dead battery again. so could u plz help me fix this problem. Im getting so frustrated with my car.. Quite strange did you do anything diffrent when the smoke started to come out of the vent?, it may be something to do with the ignition switch if the a/c blowers do not go off
and are you sure that anything else is not on? besides the blower raido and headlights? -------------------- |

thanks for the reply. after it start smoking i didnt do anything at all. just no i just found out one of the bigger fuse was blown but i just changed that. well its just ilke if u left your key on ACC. it doesnt seem to want to turn off. I just jumped the car again hoping the fuse i changed out worked, but it didnt right after i took out the key everything turn off like it should be, but in 3 seconds it turns on again w/o the key in.

What fuse was blown? and like I said before it might be coming from the ignition switch, try taking out the harness of the ignition switch and see what happens, if the problems stops, I would change the switch there might be a short with in it -------------------- |

it was the power fuse. ill check on the ignition switch then. any other place i should check? so if i have a short there the smoke would come out of the vent that took a picture of?

probably burned the insulation off some wires and theyre all shorting to power and grounds and keeping all sorts of things. you need to tear into the cars wiring to see what happened, the car could just spontaneously catch fire! also, why not just unhook the battery when its parked.

The smoke is coming from some wires that are exposed and touching each other. i would get this fixed asap. You are going to have to rip into the dash alittle bit, but you will know it when you see it, i can guarentee. I would start by tracing the wires from the ignition. -------------------- Teh Celica sleeps for Winter '06. Suspension overhaul begins........

i just hope its just the wires touchin each other and hope that i dont have to spend any more on repairing it. At first i thought it was just the blower that was going bad. Now that its the ignition crap going bad i just hope its just the wires messing up. I dont have any electronics on it installed recently.

But i know for sure that every thing is turned off when i seperate the burn area wires. Thanks for the help guys. -------------------- <--- I miss :'' (

If there are any torn wires obviosly insulate them with tape and see how you go from there. If I may ask where is that section of wires? where does it connect to ? -------------------- |

holy crap man...... i cant believe thats what it took to find it. Hey, at least you found the problem, because like bitter said, the whole car could have caught fire. Do you have any idea why this wire decided to burn up? Any subs or anything in the car?

Great job finding the damage, but there's still more to do. Most importantly you need to find the CAUSE. Those look like audio wires. Something in your audio system caused those wire to burn, it will do it again if you don't find the cause. Good luck!

i have no subs, i dont really have anything hooked up. but i do recall my driver master controler went sparkley one day and not its not working. it might be a defect and caused it to burn my wires. well ima strip my door today cuz i do see a blue wire hanging out. my whole car is entirely stripped.

nows the time to also look for rust starting in the doors and add sound deadening if you want to.
