I was racing a Z24 Cavy with a 50 shot and when I went to go from 3rd to 2nd insted of 4th gear. I was a good 2 car lengths ahead at the time though. The only reason I win races against most guys is because of my launches and fast shifts. But when I missed the shift, the motor went haywire. The rev limiter did not kick in at all. I have no idea how high it rev'd, but it was past the 8k mark. But now, the flywheel is litterally in pieces. Which is really a rare thing to happen. The clutch is obviously gone too. And I may have bent the crank. So, I might be in the market for a 3sgte, 3sge, 1mzfe, 3mzfe, or 4age. We'll see what happens. I hate to waste this opertunity and put another 5sfe in there. It all just depends on what I can find and for what price. I'm really upset to see my baby down though.

lol...this is a funny post.
I guess part of me would say go ahead and upgrade...might as well with the opportunity. Then another part of me says, please dont upgrade, dont go wasting any more motors or engines. Get a cheap 5sfe and throw it in there if your just going to be racing your friends and what not. -------------------- I am now a part of the ihavemorethen16gc club! |

I guess my response to that would be that if you upgraded, then you wouldnt have to worry about quick shifts and starts, because you would be fast enough to be able to kinda take it easy on the shifting, which would mean your less likely to repeat that last mistake. Trying to be optimistic here. I say live it up, if you wanna race, then by all means go for it, im sure its a great thrill. If this wasnt my daily driver id be doing the same thing. I say go for more power...and just be more careful with shifting?

I take it to the strip or the autox track almost every weekend. And I do a lot of street racing. But this story luckly happend on the track, or my parents would have killed me. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

It is my dd, but I'm an idiot sometimes. About the driving, that's what was really funny about all this. I'm kind of known for being a good driver around here. And the fact that I did that has gotten me some real crap from my local buddies. But, I do have to shift really fast to run with the guys I do. I prove that the little 5s actually has some real power every weekend. Best wins are a sr20det 240, and a z24 Cavy with a 50 shot of nitro. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

Your flywheel exploded? Usually when I see that I see pieces of the flywheel thrown through the body of the car (and sometimes the driver.) Was this a lightweight (or lightened) flywheel?

I figured someone was going to say that. It was in the 1/8 mile, and like I said, I'm known for being a good driver. Get the hole shot and they can't stop you. If I was in his car, I would have won with it. He didn't miss anything, he just didn't know how to get it to hook up right. It broke all the bolts off from the crank to it. I guess I'm lucky it didn't do more than it did. I'll take pictures of it if anyone wants to see them. We took the starter off and reached into there and you could tell the flywheel was just in pieces. Then we took it apart and it was all the more obvious. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

I'm thinking about a 3sge 3rd gen. Or a 1mzfe motor. I like the NA power. My dad and I were talking about putting a turbo on my 5s, so if I get the 1mzfe, we'll just continue that. I'd like to have that monster motor in my car. That would be the first forced induction V6 6gen. Oh, btw, the 5sfe is a great motor. Too run up to 8k+ and not destroy more than it did, and on 155k miles, that is a good motor. I think it has some real potential for boosting. Anything that strong can hold some real psi. I'm just thinking out loud now, I don't knwo what going to happen with all this. We'll see. I'll dissapoint everyone as soon as possible with the news that the 5sfe has to be rebuilt. lol, I'll be driving a 91 Geo Metro fxi till it's back on the road. So no more drag racing for me.
EDIT: With the turbo 1mzfe, I would most likely be the fastest fwd in town. I think I could handle that. I would have to limit myself to role races only though. But that's all these guys like to do anyway. This post has been edited by Bigmeanbulldog55: Sep 19, 2006 - 1:34 AM -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

the 4 banger metro can hit 130whp pretty easily, coupled with its almost nothing weight, it'll scoot suprisingly fast.

Yeah, but that's the g13b. And even with that hp, those things have a hard time getting as fast as 14's in the quarter. I can't really figure it out. I just have the G10 sohc motor. That's the 3 banger. They make a nice turbo kit for it, but I'm just not sure about tweeking with it. It would be a nice car for tite courses, but it would never have the top end or interstate speed that I feel I need now. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

A 240 is rwd, I doubt you got the hole shot on him. Maybe he didn't have the swap.
