well im leaving for school in a few weeks and my 94 celi ST has just turned 75,000 so i figure its time for some work biggrin.gif
i know the front and rears are blown so while im replacing the wheel bearings and doing the drum to disk swap and all that other good stuff i gonna do some tien springs for sure cause theres nothing but good going around about them
anyways im not sure which route to go for the struts the kyb are obviously cheeper and that would give me money for strut and swaybars but the konis are obviouly better and adjustable
so if u were me re-doing your suspention would you go with the kyb with strut and swaybars (and new bushings of course) or the koni yellows with just new bushngs everywhere?

koni are way better but if your goin with just springs then get the KYB to save you money and they will be fine on your setup cause your not creating an autocross car....they will give you a nice ride, save you money, and give the ability to get sways as well

If your drop is less than 1.5" KYB's warrenty still applies. Beyond that, better to go with the Konis for assured longevity.

Also, be aware than when you're replacing your shocks, you are likely to encounter more parts that need replacing.

I've got 267,000 km (~167,000 miles) and my strut mounts were in terrible shape. They're largely rubber bonded to metal, and over time, that bond breaks down. It's about $200 to replace them all, though I managed it a bit cheaper.

Also, check the condition of your boots on the rears, the lower spring isolators on all four, and the upper spring isolators/boots on the fronts. Depending on milage and luck, those pieces can either be just about perfect or shredded. I ended up having to replace my front lower spring isolators, but my boots and front spring isolators were in good condition.

Finally, consider having sandpaper and spraypaint around, since there are some parts you will want to clean up.

I have the right front left to go but my mounts and insulators were pretty good for 160,000. The left rear insulator was the only one that was really bad so I replaced both rears $15 a piece. I got the gr2s for my car because the koni's were nuts and I couldn't find rears and didn;t want to combo the car. DO NOT get tokico they suck. They lasted 2 races and the right front blew out. The kybs on the rear of the race car have held up very well.

No. Some people claim to have used MR2 pieces with some modification to fit the Celica.

if ur spending over a G, u might as well go with the tein coilovers...

sorry to butt-in but my axels are ****ed up and same with my shocks and im planning on lowering my car. i ordered new axels, which arent in yet, and im going to buy the kyb shocks today. im putting dropzone coilovers. do u think that is a bad idea? also, those kyb shocks are from ebay, and it says "front shocks are inserts/cartridges, they are not complete struts". does that mean those arent what i need?

just incase you are wondering, the reason why i am not tein coilovers is because my dad is paying for the shocks and the axels and i am paying for the coilovers.

if you dont have the sports suspension, it should be okay unless the old strut housing cap refuses to come off. kyb does make a full strut for the front.
