So i bought a spare 3rd gen 3s head that i'm going to build, and am trying to figure out what the cams are that came in it. I'm highly skeptical that these are 3rd gen 3s cams at all, and they are NOT aftermarket. Take a look at this and let me know what you think.

Take a look at the cam lobes specifically. They have a relief cut in them on the back side pointing away from the pointy side of the lobe.

Maybe they tried to reduce weight. Only the high point of the cam lobe touches the lifter, because when the valve is closed there is some clearance between the lifter and cam. So theoretically you could remove the entire lobe except for the point where its actually contacting and moving the lifter/valve and there would be no Ill effects. Though I suppose you need at least a little cam lobe left with clearance to help oil the lifter and cam,

I'm not saying that this is what they are, but they could be non-turbo Gen III 3s cams. I'm running a non-turbo Gen III 3s head with turbo springs and cams. The cams swap out fine, so I'm sure the n/a cams would fit in a turbo head (not sure why anyone would do that though). Unfortunately I bought my head without cams in it, so I can't tell you what they look like, but maybe you can find some on ebay being sold?

As poster above me said they could be gen III cam, ( they have more duration and more lift 256 degrees)

They move the power band up more but that would be my best guess
