What’s up everyone.
I know there a lot of post in regards to this topic but I am new to this and I don’t seem to find the right info.

I have a 94 gt 5 speed hatch.

Has anyone done the swap from 5sfe to 3sg.

Can I keep my tranny? (Has anyone kept it?)
Let’s assume I can find the 3sg engine for about 1500 with ecu and hardness cut.
How much more will I need.

I am on a tight budget.
How about the 4wd tranny form a gt-4. How will that tranny fit a fwd car. Will it fit?

If one of you guys have done the swap hit me up with a link to a write up or something that will help me make a better decision.
thanks

Yes. It seems like I got everthing. I am slowly reading up on the swap. I use the car daily and dont want to start and be without a car for too long.

You know something you only live once. It is a hobby, and once its done ...........umnnnn.... I feel sorry for those hondas. smile.gif

I guess i will start by getting a gasket kit, changing water pump and timing belt.
I know now that i can use the gt tranny but from what i read it will not hold up too long.
I would like to change it to a solara v6 tranny but then there are also complications with the axles and the wires to change the gears.

before I do the heart transplant I need to be sure everthing is on the table.

Thanks everyone
great site.

this is a big myth. there are a lot of people on this site using that tranny with no problems for years now.

Really.
I noticed you also have a 3sgte swap. What tranny do you have?

I mean it makes more sense to just keep the tranny I already have. No need to alter anything, axles, mounts and shift wires will fit perfectly.

I do drive the car hard.

art (lagos) is using the stock GT tranny (s54) and has been for a couple years now with no issues, as have i on my 230+whp 5sfTe setup for over a year, with no issues.
IMO its all about the condition the tranny is in BEFORE you swap.
if the tranny grinds or anything like that at all before you swap, plan on having problems down the road.
for art, and i, we both had good working trannys to start with, and they both continue to prove reliable for us both.
