No that isn't possible. The compression of a 3S-GE engine is way higher than that of a 3S-GTE engine. If you'd turbo the 3S-GE you'll probably break it. So only a engine-swap will do.

If you have a 3sge in your car now yeah you can turbo it safe on any where from 5 to 15 PSI or you can get 3sgte pistions there for you can boost the hell out of the car and be safe , & the car will run a little harder because the cams in the 3sge head are bigger than the 3sgte...

To salvage all the 3S-GTE parts needed to do a full conversion of s 3S-GE engine you would probably end up paying more then going for a ST185/205 clip + you need a standalone ECU. (There is someone here that used the stock st205 ECU on a 3S-GE+T scothaniel??)
Save yourself the headaches and get the GTE rightaway. Only reason why I swapped instead of turboing my 3S-GE after 1 year of research. This post has been edited by Kadett: Sep 13, 2006 - 10:03 AM -------------------- JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!

I also think that it wouldnt be worth the time or money, not including that the engine will not be that durable because of the high compresssion it will have, I recommend the 3SGTE st 185 or the MR2 turbo Preferably the st185

I did it, and its awesome. Came out about the same price as a ST205 front clip, but everything is freshly rebuilt (swapped to stock turbo pistons) with a warranty from machine shop.
