The ABS has it's own ABS ECU and if there is a prob with the system (sensor or whatever) it shuts the system down and you have normal braking ability and the ABS light will remain illuminated. You can then read the ABS codes

94-95
ignition in the ON position,
bridge E1 & TC in the diagnostics box, just like checking codes, read the code from the ABS light
codes 31-34 are the sensors @ each wheel.

31 Malfunction of right front wheel speed sensor signal. Check
speed sensor, sensor rotor, wiring harness and connector

32 Malfunction of left front wheel speed sensor signal. Check
speed sensor, sensor rotor, wiring harness and connector

33 Malfunction of right rear wheel speed sensor signal. Check
speed sensor, sensor rotor, wiring harness and connector

34 Malfunction of left rear wheel speed sensor signal. Check
speed sensor, sensor rotor, wiring harness, and connector

you have a 97 correct?

you need an OBDII scanner. depending on the scanner you get it'll either just give you a code which you'll have to look up or it'll tell you exactly what the problem is. some OBDII's allow you to clear CEL's so maybe its the same for the airbag light
