I have my foglight mounted (finally; check my profile out for pics). Anyways, I've just had some questions about the electrical.
I want the fog lights to turn off when I have my headlights off, or to turn off when I turn the switch off. I am thinking I want to put a relay between the foglights and switch, that ties into the headlight circuit. Where can I find the headlight hot wire so I can put the relay in? In my manual it says something about a foglight relay, but I can't find anything but the headlight relay in my relay/fuse box. 2nd thing- Where do I get the power from? Is there some circuit that could handle the extra load of foglights, or should I splice into some wire as close to the battery as I can? Help! -------------------- ![]() psalm 69 |

Attach the fog light power wire directly to the battery (make sure their is an inline fuse).
Either way on a standard 30 amp bosch style relay. Terminal 86 will need a ground from the foglight switch. 85 needs 12v+ from the headlights. You could also tap into the parking light circuit. (This will allow you to use your fog lights without the headlights being on. The foglights and parking lights will be on together.) 30 12v+ from the battery. 87 goes to the foglights. 87a cover the contact with some shrinktube or tape. There are sockets available for the relays to make wiring eaiser but you can also just use female crimp on spade connectors directly to the relay. As far as finding the wires, you can do it all under the hood except for the foglight switch. Just check the wires with a meter. T-taps or scotchlocks made by 3M make the conections easy. If you have anymore questions just ask. This post has been edited by AudioFreak: Jun 28, 2003 - 3:49 PM |
