Body work can be fixed. The engine is the expensive parts. It don't look too bad, but I'm not an authority, so I wouldn't know. Insurance is useful, but yours is gunna go up.

the damage that cant be seen in the pics are the radiator is pushed off a strait up and down line.. its kind of laid back... the hood latch is pushed back at an angle so the hood wont completely close.... the whole front of the car looks like its been pushed back towards the firewall.. the frame might still be in good shape.. who knows ..... anywayz... i still think its gonna total out... any educated guesses, opinions, advice.. would be greatly apprechiated

my educated guess is thats not totalled, you will pay ur deducatable (usually around 500 bucks), insurance (if you have full coverage) will pay the rest, then they will make that ammount 10 fold off you in insurance rates
i need a few more pics though, 1 of the engine bay, and 1 of the bottom of the car with the plastics off. and also with that much underdamage better check the axle too. -------------------- Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them all No but I don't buy it Like anything you do, as anyone you are Cause I'm... well.. heres another question ... if it comes out totalled.. should i take my exchangeable parts ive put on it off before the insurance company takes it away , i.e. - rims and tires, injen intake, optima battery, cd player, maybe even the supra style spoiler... and would i have time to take the exaust off?.. cuz if the insurance hauls away the car with all my money in mods on it.. ima be super pisssed... so whatta u guys think?

That isnt very bad as long as your frame isnt bent. I hope the car is totaled. Then buy it back from insurance with a salvage title, and find someone who you know in mechanics fix it for cheap. I did that with my old 5GC and got 4k out of the deal, and All Trac Hood :)If too much still buy it back and part it, what color are your visors and how much?

I dunno if its totalled. Insurance will estimate cost of repair and compare to cost of it to sell If more expensive to fix, then its totalled. It will depend on frame damage and how bad the radiator is & etc... As far as a salvage title; that seems like a good idea, but Might be hard to get insurance to cover or it might be more expensive(not really sure how that works) but I do know that if you ever want to sell it, it will be really hard to sell with a salvage title.

my guess would be that it is totaled. just from seeing the pics and you say both airbags went off. the air bags and the frame are really the two deciding factors for an older car. airbags alone would cost about 1000 a peice to put back in. if it is totaled dont just take what ever your insurance company offers you look up the retail value on kellys blue book and make sure they give you at least that. i had a cavalier that i totaled and wound up making 2 grand off it. i boght it for way less then it was worth though. also take every mod you have off of it insurance will not give you an dime for any mods. if you take the cd player out put the old one back in it doesnt have to be working just make sure its in there. i didnt put mine back in the cavalier and i got 150 less then i would have for a tape player. if it does wind up being totaled and you are going to sell stuff i REALLY want your spoiler. let me know

if i buy it back from insurance if it turns out totalled... i probly wont part it out... it'll be completely restored... but the interior is gray, my cars auto, and the seats are black and gray.... probly wont part it out though ... any further educated guesses on damage expenses, totalled or not, etc. would be apprechiated

more than 50% of a car value in repairs equals a totaled car. Fron what I see the damage is not that bad...but the airbags are gonna be the real kicker. Do search on the value of your car and see. So unless the insurance wants to used used parts...you might stand a chance. But if the airbags are bought new from the dealer its gonna be close.
BTW if it is totaled...take of all your aftermarket parts...they should have no problem with that. |

i looked the value up on kelly blue book.. its 6k flat... and if it totals.. ill take all my aftermarket off (including that expensive ass spoiler) and give the insurance the bone stock pile... i just hope if it is they'll give me at least 5k.... and if it isn't .. im goin cheap labor and cf hood, maybe gt-4 bumper... but everthing depends as of now

Here's a plan, if it's totalled and insurance is planning on giving you 5K, buy MINE - 4700$ http://www.pocketbuddy.com/Celica then part out your Celica to the peeps here looking for parts then use it to pay for the 3S-GTE upgrade This post has been edited by funks: Jul 1, 2003 - 7:51 PM |
