From my experience, it seems apparent that KYB strut mounts are thicker than Toyota's. One Kyb's even out with the top center nut while Toyotas have extra thread on top. Second I measure one side versus the other side which had a toyota one and the difference in height is .25. Now that took away that much from my drop, making it that much higher. As possible advice based on my experience, it is best to get OEM strut mounts. Now at first I thought maybe I had to drive it around a bit. Then again, I wondered why is the Toyota side the correct height without even driving it yet. So thats my word of advice. Anyone can say otherwise?

Actually they are almost the same price. Toyota is 53.82 and KYB is about I'd say same or give 10.

But the .25 drop may sound like a small difference but it is a big difference because I noticed it by my eye not by measuring.

when i did my struts + springs several years ago, i used moog rear strut mounts.
they were absolute JUNK.
horrible clunking within a few weeks of installing them, and let me tell ya, when i say HORRIBLE, i mean it.
ask art (lagos) or dustin (batman722) about how my car sounded with those mounts..lol it was aweful to ride in.
i bought OEM rear mounts (they came with new boots attached) and dustin and i installed them.
made a HUGE diffrence.
no more clunking.
woot.
+1 for oem mounts.

+2 for oem mounts. manny, im having the same clunking problem on mine, so im glad that winter is finally here so that i can put her away and work on it without having to worry about getting it done quickly so i can drive it again. Im pretty much planning to have the entire underbody ripped out all winter.

Manny, where did you purchase your OEM mounts from? Online? What site? Or local auto parts store? Thanks.

New news, I bought new toyota strut mounts OEM part numbers, and they are built exactly the same way as KYB's, even looks exactly like it. With that new find, it is either toyota created new mounts after the cars were made or the ones that come with your car is just a regular one when you buy the car. Now, you can tell the difference between the two because the ones that come stock with the car have a center lock or groove that looks like a seperate, shiny piece. The newer toyota mounts or kybs actually look like one piece, and they are taller so this is why those mounts make the car higher, I measured it with a ruler and they come around .25 difference higher than my originals so that means that my initial theory was correct about the .25 difference. I can say that the newer mounts no doubt look more durable and heavy duty. But I still prefer my original ones because of my drop.
