1 bar. i think the problem was that when i got the engine it had a blown HG.
and things werent fit for the power goals i had in mind for stock 91, worn pistons/rings. on the dyno the tuner said i had alittle to much blow by. so we decided to be safer than sorry and keep the boost at 1 bar. he thinks i cracked or slightly cracked a ringland because of the blow by. i did some research over at mr2oc and they say its a pretty common thing to happen to stock pistons. so i could have had a hair line crack and having the tuner gain alot more power might have been pushing it to the limit. going eagle rods and Arias or Wiseco pistons. sucks. but i should be able to get it going again fairly quick. :moral of the story is: Just because some else's motor didnt blow up with stock pistons doesnt mean yours wont blow up lol. and just to bite the bullet and do it anyways. oh well. im trying to put a positive spin on it. more power when im done This post has been edited by x_itchy_b_x: May 11, 2007 - 7:13 AM -------------------- |

Yup, out of the bay again. eyes closed. check out whats going in this time MCS Forged Shortblock: 3S block, torque plate bored, honed, deglazed, vatted, cleaned, painted, assembled 3S crank, balanced with rotating assembly, micropolished King Engine Bearings & Thrust Washers CP 86.5MM forged pistons, 9.0:1 compression, .020 over bore Eagle H-Beam Rods Blueprinted bottom end New rear seal retainer & seal just need to strip the block down and mail it out. id do it myself but by the time i get the block bored and honed and buy all the parts i need, im only like 100 bucks below a fully built & balanced, blueprinted block. it will be nice to get it in the mail and just bolt it all back together. high boost. Mmmmm. :this thread is long, should i stop bumping it? anyone?: This post has been edited by x_itchy_b_x: May 21, 2007 - 9:39 PM -------------------- |

Somewhat off topic but how easy is that plenum to install? Does it fit just dandy under the bonnet etc or does it need fiddling with?

QUOTE(Alan @ Sep 7, 2007 - 1:09 AM) Very nice man , got any more pics At the moment, No. But dont worry ill get a few more before its all back together and then some. QUOTE(lagos @ Sep 7, 2007 - 2:43 AM) now your ready for some big power! Yeah! cant wait to get it running, and keep it running how much do they charge for a rebuild like that? Over at MCS they have alot of good prices for what your getting. I payed almost 2400 dollars, but to know its done right by a 3sgte specialty shop is worth it. I think its a really good deal, just finding a machine shop around me that would have bored the cylinders would have cost me like 400 doll hairs. ill take a pic of the underside of the block when i get in. Inside is so clean, the crank looks great, you can see where they rebalanced everything. Im very happy with it. QUOTE(MercuryFree @ Sep 7, 2007 - 3:53 AM) Somewhat off topic but how easy is that plenum to install? Does it fit just dandy under the bonnet etc or does it need fiddling with? the manifold bolts directly to the head, so it eleminates the tvis valves and it bolts right up. There was no fiddling involed, fits great under the hood. -------------------- |
