Well, my dads back home now for good. he made a good recovery considering how traumatic hes injuries were. hes not quite himself yet, but im happy hes ok and back home.
im starting to work on the celica again now that things are going alot smoother at the house. thanks again for the support. i did a compression test recently and im pretty sure i broke a valve... or atleast chipped it enough to not hold compression. sucks. taking the head off again this winter and putting in some ferrea valves. 1mm over sized. the only thing i left stock comes back to bite me. (i always had alot of vavletrain noise since the swap, figured it was normal, then the noise stopped and so did cylinder one holding compression) This post has been edited by x_itchy_b_x: Dec 4, 2007 - 4:05 PM -------------------- |

springs were already done i think thats what made the stocks valves go south. alot more pressure slamming them back and forth and the 8.5k revs i was hitting...

Hey Jon, sorry to hear about your dad, good that hes home now. Havent seen you since jonnys party couple months ago.
Liking the Celica haha, i still want you to "finish" it. So i can see how fast it really is or can be. And of course we shall compare and see..... 1. Who is faster..... and 2. Who breaks somehting first hahah. The S4 is in the shop right now for misc. random crap. Plan on getting around to new turbos later this winter. Dont have enough money to do all the fueling tho so stage 3- for me. good luck im sure ill see you around shortly. P.s. i Heard u met my friend Julie from my town haha, and says we talk abotu our cars to much (us as in everyone at the parties) -TK -------------------- Former Burple 97 ST Celica owner

If you were going at 8.5k rpm with aftermarket spring, can I go to 7.8-8.0k rpm with my stock spring? Or do I absolutely need to upgrade the spring to raise my redline capacity?
BTW, dont worry with my ECU, i have megasquirt and I can set my fuel-cut and spark-cut as I want. I just want to set it right. For now, it's set to 7.2k, but I want to be able to raise it at max on stock valve spring. Let me know what you think about it! Thanks Sam |

Haha im the one who needs motivation. I almost had it yesturday... but nah...
maybe ill get some drive in 08. For the redline at 8.5k you want to shim your oil pump or use a 5sfe one for more volume at higher rpms. and the only reason i had to upgrade my springs was because i have cams with more lift and duration so it was necessary. i don't suggest revving the stock cams out to 8.5k since they wont make any power after like 6k anyways. so, not sure on how to answer your question. if you want to make power that high in the rpm band you need aftermarket cams. and if you do that you'll also want springs. and if your unsure on your stock valves condition might as well replace them too. 2steping is very fun but also VERY violent. -------------------- |

Ok thanks, my real question was :
Does a stock 3sgte can handle some 7.5-8k RPM shift (supposing that the ECU cut-off can be set to any RPM)? You answered it when you said that my oil pump will not be able to deliver enough oil at this high RPM. So, I think that I'll not go far from the 7.2K RPM stock limit. Thanks Sam |
