Yup, I was wondering the same thing. Right now I have 1000W amp for my 2 15's and my indiglo's and headlamps dim like a mother. I wanted to get another amp pretty soon but I'm gonna need a cap before I make the purchase. Anything I find out I'll let ya know.

If you're going to buy online, I'd suggest http://www.sounddomain.com/shop. They have a 105% price guarantee(I used to look at http://www.carmedia1.com for cheap prices for them to match back when I bought my first system, and they always did it) and great customer service.

Here's an article that may be of help when installing your cap:

i've got 2 1000w AMPs to my 2 12's and I got my CAP from Monster (Monster Cable Company) and its works perfectly. It matches my interior to (its silver). It holds its 10v charge for a long time, even if your car stays turned off for awhile or if you disconnect the battery.

make sure you ground the cap in a seperate ground from the amp. for mine I sanded down the 2 bolt-holes for the read seatbelt buckles ( the part that clicks).

I am running a 1200W system, have a 1.0 digital cap (stinger) and after i had installed my battery my amp crapped out. There wasnt enough power in the amp to keep the alt regulated properly. when it died i had it rebuilt with beefed up internals (rotor/stator). even now, with my 1.0 cap and a 115A alt my light still dim on hard hits.

IMO if you want a good system get a good battery (optima) and a higher output alt. Capacitors are just "band-aids" for high power systems.

It has been proven many times that caps are a band aid fix and places extra stress on your electrical system. 90percent of people who have dimming headlights etc is due to grounding problems.

Upgrade your grounds and you would not have any problems. The factory grounding of the celica is especially pathetic in the engine bay.

I bought 2 2.0 Farrad caps for my set-up in a previous car, but was runing 2 1800 Amps for two competition subs, basically for every 300-500 watts of power you need .5 of a farrad, the trick is to meet this requirement and will help..

I get a lot of my stuff from caraudiosecurity.com, although im in the UK so might be easier for me..

Dont forget you can run caps in parallel, not in series, to get them working together and pulling off both..

Alternatively if they was draining that much try a yellow top optima battery or the likes in addition to your one in place.. it depends on how far your going to take you ICE for the investment wink.gif
